The founders of the pony express are William H. Russell, William B. Waddell, and Alexander Majors. It traveled from St.Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California. The route along the Pony Express began at the Platte River, next Fort Bridger, then to the Great Salt Lakes, and finally to Sierra Nevada. The route was a total of one hundred-ninety four miles.- They switched horses every ten- fifteen miles.With one hundred- ninety stations the Pony Express covered the rough terrain fastly.
The Old Stagecoach by Eastman Johnson The work that I chose to talk about was “The Old Stagecoach by Eastman Johnson.” This work would be considered a painting. The images that are shown in the painting are of an old stagecoach as the name of the painting suggests. The stagecoach does not have any wheels and so it just sits on the ground.
The growth of agriculture and railroads in Texas and in the United States helped form our economy today. Railroads today pass through a lot of Texas, and even in big cities like Houston or Dallas. Since there are so many farms and open farmland (especially in south and west Texas), railroads can carry the produce and livestock to their destination. James Watt invented the first steam engine in about 1769, and from then on, railroads were a must for transportation, since cars had yet to be invented. Railroads began to be built before the Civil War. It originally took about 6 months to get from the west of the US to the east, but now it only took 7 days. With railroads expanding all across the country, agriculture was affected in a mostly positive way. Now, crops and other goods could be transported by train anywhere in the US, and fast.
I believe that I should receive the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship because of the dedication and love for stock shows and pigs. If the marketing trend is monitored regularly by putting the right people in place and being proactive regarding the equipment and freight rates. Action Modular will be highly marketable and can yield more in revenue versus decreasing the revenue by utilizing outside carrier.

‘The Third Class Carriage’, one of a series of three oil paintings curated by French realist painter Honoré Daumier between 1863 to 1855. The incomplete painting is now featured in the National Gallery of Canada. Honoré Daumier born in Marseille, France in 1808 and at the young age of fourteen began as an apprentice to artist and archaeologist Alexander Lenoir. The techniques he acquired “ led to his admission into the Académie Suisse, a respected Paris art school”. Although, Daumier was known for his caricature work he produced several famous sculptures and paintings like The Third Class Carriage.
Alongside the 48th parallel, near the world’s northerly limit for viticulture, is the Champagne AOC. The Champagne only contains one AOC, while Burgundy includes over 110 AOCs. Burgundy has its AOCs spread over 8,450 hectares, equated to Champagne, who sits on 31,000 hectares with just its one AOC. “Only having one AOC for Champagne is largely driven by the commercial influence of the Grandes Marques who blend wines from throughout the Region and do not want regional & vineyard differences profiled” (Education: The Champagne).
In 6600 BC wine was first found, and throughout time wine surely grew into one of the leading money creating industry in Sonoma County. Without wine in Sonoma County it would not be called wine county. The history of wine was a big revelation and little did they know wine became a leading indicator in Sonoma county. So poor a glass of wine and sit back, relax, and enjoy. And think about the money that you are giving the economy.
I am jarred out of a relaxing sleep by a voice yelling my name in a loud whisper, and a light burning through my eyelids. Groggily, I open my eyes to see my father standing in the doorway to my messy room. He tells me that I need to get going, that it is 3:00 a.m., and I'm burning daylight. I find my clothes and get dressed. The whole time I wonder why I get up this early to visit the rugged outdoors. I want to go back to bed, but I know my dad will be back in to make sure I am getting ready, in a little bit. Instead, I put my boots and my wide-brimmed, black cowboy hat on, and walked out to catch the horses. The horses are all excited because it is dark and they are not that cooperative. My dad and I get them saddled and in the trailer, and go back into the house to get our lunch, water, and a cup of coffee. Now, we can head for the high country.
When most people think about an eventful or memorable place, they almost certainly would not picture a bus. As we all know, buses are not exactly attractive. The design scheme is the same in almost every bus: rows and rows of brown seats, a thin black aisle down the middle of the bus, hundreds of hazy windows, and the big, lemon-yellow exterior. Not many people, I am sure, would consider buses to be an important part of their lives. However, if a person were to think about it, they would realize that they probably have had at least one memorable experience in their life that took place on a bus.
Most people take the urban public transportation system for granted. It is used in every aspect of our daily lives: work, education, medical necessities, recreation, etc. It is also important for the transportation of goods and services, which aids the growth and maintenance of our economy. Urban public transportation is the critical component of our quality of life and economic stability. The MBTA, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, is Boston and Eastern Massachusetts’s major transportation service. The MBTA has played a central role in the development of Boston and surrounding cities and towns for more than a century; providing service from 175 cities and towns into Boston. On an average weekday over 1.2 million trips are made on the subway, buses, commuter lines and other services in the mass transit system. With an international airport, a ship port, the highways, and the rail lines to connect regional cities and towns to national and international destinations and markets, Boston’s urban public transportation system has made the region’s growing role in the global economy possible.
The development of urban transportation has not changed with the cities; cities have changed with transportation. This chapter offers an insight into the Past and the future of Urban transportation and is split up into a number of different sections. It includes a timeline of the different forms of transport innovations, starting from the earliest stages of urban transport, dating back to the omnibus (the first type of urban transportation) and working in a chronological order until eventually reaching the automobile. However, these changes in Urban transport did not happen for no reason. Different factors within society meant urban transport needed to evolve; points will be made on why society needed this evolution. In contrast I will observe the problems urban transport has caused in society as a result of its rapid progression. Taking account of both arguments for the evolution of urban transport, I will look at where it will go in the future.
