Introduction
Nanotechnology involves the ability to see and control atoms and molecules at the nanoscale. It is one of the fastest growing areas of research due to its endless possibilities. Biologists, chemists, physicists and engineers are all involved in the study of nanotechnology. The nanoscale is the range of approximately 1 to 100 nanometres. A nanometre is one-thousandth of a micrometre, or one-billionth of a metre. Nano scientists explore how atoms and molecules interact with each other so they are able to design and build faster, smaller electronics. There are many different areas of nanotechnology including medicine, memory-shape alloys, Nano robots, self-cleaning paint and glass, Nano fabrics and many more. There are many breakthroughs

One of the biggest challenges they are facing is nanotechnology being used in warfare. There is no way to keep track of those who have access to nanotechnology and those who don’t. With nanotechnology, counties may be able to start wars without anyone knowing who’s attacking. Nanomachines, also known as nanites, may be able to, in the future perform tasks that humans are unable to do in terms of warfare and transmitting information. Nanotechnology may also allow us to create more powerful weapons, both lethal and non-lethal. Nanomedicine is a rapidly expanding field. Thanks to technology, scientists and engineers are able to make materials at the nanoscale and use them to help change people’s lives. They are constantly finding more about how the physical and chemical properties of substances change at the nanoscale and ways in which to improve the design of nanomaterials .

Advancements in technology and science contributed to one of the most gory and bloodiest wars in the annals of human existence. These new technological advancements revolutionized how people regarded war. War was no longer where the opposite forces fought in a coordinated battle. War evolved into a game of cunning strategy where the side with the bigger, more powerful, and smarter toys played better. This led to a fierce competition where each side tried to create the smarter machines and better weapons, leading to deadly mass killing weapons in the process.

It seems since that dawn of the era of man we have always been in competition with one another. We have fought countless wars over every issue imaginable, with many great civilizations being founded and destroyed by war. Though with each new conflict comes newer and better technology. Technology is what drives civilizations forward, but it can also lead to its downfall. It is fascinating see how much technology has evolved over history, and how we have incorporated these innovations into newer technology. In past century technology has seen its greatest leap forward. This is in large part due to the two major World Wars that plagued the early part of the 20th century. (Koch p.122)
We also have learned that although nanotechnology has been around for a decade, there is still a long way to go to perfect this technology. Biomedical scientists and Nano-engineers have to work together so that all the nanobot promises are met safely and effectively. Our group is excited to see this technology continue to evolve. Nanotechnology includes nanorobots which are so small that they can be injected into the human bloodstream after which the nanorobots can do investigations or repair at cellular level. Nanorobots could optimize the delivery of pharmaceutical products, these means that medicines which are targeted on a specific type of cells can be delivered to only those cells by the nanorobots. The robots can attach to the cells after which they can inject the drug into the target cells. This could be a great breakthrough for cancer treatments such as chemotherapy because there is a minimal chance of injecting healthy cells with the drug and therefor negative side effects can be avoided.
Technology is a very important part of warfare. Technology is driven by the military. The army's race during the cold war, spawned some of the greatest technical achievements in human history. Space travel for example is a result of the X-plane project. The Internet was produced by the military as well. If we stop investing in military technology, we risk our safety. If other nations had more advance technology than we do, they would have more power than we do. If that was to happen, we face the threat of that nation taking over us.
Today, any involvement with super weapons is closely monitored. Any country that operates, researches, or funds super weapons. The ethical issue involving engineering weapons is “when is it too much?” Weapons have evolved from being just an item for protection, to now having the capacity to annihilate an entire country. Many argue that having a single weapon that could eliminate an entire country is extreme, because the weapon not only eliminates the enemy, but also many innocent civilians....
