Understanding that educators are a key component to providing the necessary tools to helping learners became successful. The MBTI provides a bridge that identifies types that enhances the progress of a learner’s ability to perform successfully (The Myers & Briggs Foundation, 2014).
Accordingly to the MBTI foundation many of the pioneering studies of the (MBTI) instrument were done with high school and college students. These original studies plus the ongoing data collected by colleges and universities in the United States have resulted in a wealth of information about how personality affects learning and teaching styles (The Myers & Briggs Foundation,

...orical figures in the history of the USA, both Presidents of the United States of America had interesting personalities, which helped them in leading the great nation of the USA during the Cold War, and the Second World War. The remarkable success happen because they had some of the significant elements of the ESTP personality type such as having career ambition, being a risk-taker, and giving motivational speeches that reflect their great successes of leadership. ESTPs recognize their real talents, advance in them, and accomplish truly exciting achievements. With respect to Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the human personality cannot always be measured with total accuracy by the character categories, due to the fact that people are not always alike. However, MBTI still provides a very clear illustration about people’s behavior and personality types.
The bases of this paper will be based on the results that I had obtained when I took the Myers-Briggs personality test. The results that I had obtained was that I was determined to be an ENFJ. I will go into depth about letter and how each represents that a specific aspect of my personality. The results that I had received were not what I had expected, but the more I read about the trait the more I realized how it suited me. I will also talk about the information that I had found useful from the book, Type Talk at Work: How the 16 Personalities Types Determine Your Success on the Job by Otto Kroeger, which gave me insight on how to interact with other personality types especially in the work environment. The information that I absorbed from the personality test and from the book will go into use in my personal and work life so that both environments will be cohesive and peaceful.
The Myers Briggs test is a complex way of figuring out your personality type. When the Myers Briggs test gives you your personality test answers there are 4 letters that are given. There are 16 different possible types of personality. The definition of the Myers Briggs test is a “widely-used personality inventory, or test, employed in vocational, educational, and psychotherapy settings to evaluate personality type in adolescents and adults” (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator). The test is a series of questions that ask you about your daily life and how you act. It is mainly used to assess student learning style (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).
Earth is populated by billions of people – one person different from the next. While physical traits like fingerprints and DNA give people their individual identity, there is more to identity than physical traits. The experience of tragedy and joy also plays a critical role in giving people their individual identity. Personality is the other factor that separates one person from others, and the personality of an individual depends heavily on his or her beliefs, culture, and the environment in which he or she is raised. There are several different types of personality tests that one can take to identify certain traits of his or her identity, and one of them is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). According to MBTI and my life experience, as an ISTP I possess an inquisitive mind, an adventuresome spirit, and a desire to be active.
After the participant has taken the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the participants are given their results (scores). The results are in form of a bar graph, as well as numbers of how they performed in form of a scale. At times, there are some cases of confusion which may result due to the confusion of the numbers leading to some similarity in the trait theory. During the preparation, another important element which should be considered is privacy. The results of a personality indicator should be limited only to the
Personality is defined as a combination of characteristics or qualities that make up an individual’s character. There are tests that can help one decode their personality and understand their quality of what it means to be a person. The Myers-Brigg Type Indicator and the Big Five or Five Factor Model ate such tools. The Myers-Brigg Type Indicator is a psychological self-assessment which provides some insight to the takers personality. Although it can be a tool used for career planning and leadership development, the Myers-Brigg Type Indicator is better classified as a personality test that depending on the results of the assessment can help one with their decision making skills, build stronger relationships, and
Personality tests help identify an individual’s characteristics, provide employees and managers information about the individual to use for discussing individual differences, promote conscious knowledge of one’s character, feelings, and motives, and provide a starting point for group discussion (Passmore, 2008). Employers that uses workplace personality tests for development purposes look for tests that are “less psychological and have more positive language, such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)” (Lloyd, 2012). The MBTI is one of the most used personality tests in businesses today. It was developed over 30 years ago by Katherine Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers. They generated their test based on Carl Jung’s theory personality types. Jung proposed that there are two psychological types of the basic personality traits—introversion and extraversion, and four functions (thinking, feeling, sensing, and intuiting). He also believed that everyone has aspects of both introversion and extraversion; however, one of those attitudes is seen more consciously and the other is more unconsciously. Myers and Myers-Briggs added two more functions to Jung’s theory (judging and per...
The single most helpful and insightful exercise we have done throughout this course has been the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI). MBTI has helped me better understand who I am as a person and what strengths and weaknesses I have based on my results. It is crucial
The Myers-Briggs test is one of the most common assessments done for undergraduate programs, and master’s programs (www.myersbriggs.com, 2015). Again, there are no right or wrong answers to this assessment. I completed this test twice, because I was not in the right frame of mind at the time, and I had not fully committed to completing the master’s program. The two attempts were to identify if my answers would be skewed based off mood and or lack of concentration. The type indicators were the same, however, the percentages varied greatly. I did not completely agree with the results individually, but it did provide a foundation for myself how I view problems, react to them, and solve them. The description of the characteristics of the indicators as a whole, I completely agreed with. I use this as an example because I believe the Myers-Briggs test had a deeper meaning for me thus far, rather than the assessments completed in this class as I feel that they will change depending on my title, where I am at within my company, how secure I feel within the structure of my company. Some of my personality traits are actively sociable, enthusiastic, expressive, warm, idealistic, empathetic, insightful, imaginative, and cooperative. I do not believe that my personality traits have ever changed, but have they have been enhanced the older that I
Through behavioral assessment, “psychologists can count and record the frequency of particular behaviors” (Wood, Wood, & Boyd, 2014, p. 382). According to the textbook Mastering the World of Psychology, the MBTI’s limitation is that it has an “absence of rigorous, controlled validity studies of the inventory” (Wood et al., 2014, p. 385). Unlike the MBTI, the behavioral assessment takes a deeper, more in-depth look at how people respond to certain situations which I believe is a much more reliable way to understand an individual’s true personality rather than relying on their answers to questions on a
The Myers and Briggs Analysis is a series of questions that when answered are examined and grouped together in order to determine the personalities of those taking this test. This particular test can result in sixteen different outcomes or types of personalities, which is determined by four different categories that judge if you are introverted or extroverted, use your senses or your intuition, your choice to think or use your feelings, and finally if you are judgmental or perceptive. These series of questions are designed to judge our personalities and help us to determine which career pathways we will be most suited for based on our personality traits and abilities to work well with others, which is important for our future decisions.
