Ever since I was little, I have had this strong pull to the world of writing. Controlling words and creating something that is solely your own really got my gears running. As the years pressed on, so did my writing style. With each coming year, my writing has grown to be what it is today. While it may not be perfect, I do know that I have a certain drive when it comes to style and the strength of my words. When I came into ENG 111, I was ready for some motivation, for I haven’t written in a long time. Each assignment helped me grow and learn what my writing style truly is. When Dr. Ellen McKenzie assigned our first paper, a personal narrative, I was beyond ready. Personal writings have always been my forte, being able to drench the story in atmosphere and create a vivid image for the read. The assignment was to be a past event that introduced or fueled your writing, so I chose when a teacher brought me down. I had to practice not inserting descriptive words and phrases, and instead create a sophisticated manner. This was perhaps the perfect example on how one can grow as a writer. When I began writing the first section, as stated before, it was difficult. However, through the ten we had to write, writing became easier and easier. When it was finally over, I felt defeated yet victorious. I had overcome perhaps, one of the hardest writing tasks I had been faced with. The blood and guts I put into the writing certainly paid off through a 198/200. This wasn’t without deficiencies though. The paper seemed to be a dead ringer of how I felt when I finished the writing. Through the hard work I dedicated to the paper and that feeling of defeat was in the paper as well. I had just one unclear paragraph and a few unnecessary citations, however they were minor. This was yet another triumph to put towards my ever-growing
