My Volunteer Experience At Lakewood High School

Being a student at Lakewood High School has prompted me to engage in a series of volunteer activities. To begin, my AP Government teacher, Mr. Miller, required that we have six hours of volunteer work with an elected official. Therefore, I contacted the Licking County Republican Party and asked if I could be of any service, which I knew would be needed considering the upcoming November election. As a result, I spent several hours volunteering at the Annual Republican Picnic, where I passed out literature and pamplants on the candidates running. A few weeks later, I volunteered at the headquarters in Newark, where I packaged slate cards and candidate information to be mailed to our local voters. Furthermore, I became well-informed in regards to the school board election process because of my presence at meetings. Overall, what I acquired from my experience working with the Republican Party and attending board meetings revealed to me the importance of involvement within our communities, which I will definitely carry with me in my future endeavours. Regardless, I have additionally volunteered at an assisted living facility, The Inn at Chapel Grove, located in Heath, Ohio. Of all my volunteer service, this experience was definitely the most rewarding simply because I prioritize the idea of giving back to the individuals who gave so much to me and the generations after them. Nonetheless, at this facility I helped the Activities Department with their daily duties. Therefore, I put together puzzles with the individuals living in the Special/Memory Care Unit. In addition, I helped the residents complete crosswords and play bingo. Altogether, though I have not engaged in a great variety of volunteer activities, I have gained experience, values, and a new perspective from these services which I will treasure for several years to
