As a nurse I am an advocate for patients who depend on my medical knowledge and critical thinking to treat them. As an advocate I must empower my patients to be actively involved in their care and decision making. I must educate patients and their families on diseases and treatment in order to improve their outcomes. Mary Denton story has taught me so much such as the difference one person can make in someone’s live. I use a patient-centered approach to care, which encompasses the total needs of the patient; I also encourage the family to become closely involved in patient’s health care. As all these factors plays an integral role in the patient’s recovery. Florence Nightingale understood very well the psychological connection to healing and actually believed that nurses should always speak up when things were unacceptable or inadequate. Florence Nightingale has paved the way for nurses more than we will ever known.
It helps guide nurses in focusing on the quality of patient care to provide for better outcomes. One of Parse’s models that I believe closely relates to nurses is the teaching-learning model. “Teaching-learning is a never-ending journey of giving-receiving in coming to know, and is an ever-changing unitary process that focuses on the individuals’ responsibility for learning and a belief in truth for the moment” (Parse, 2007, pg. 33). This model affects me as a nurse in a positive way.
This concern further inspires me to become a nurse practitioner that will provide quality care by understanding my patient as a person. Upon completion of my master’s degree in nursing and my licensure exam, I plan to work as an FNP in one of the ambulatory clinic at the community I grew up in. I wish to become an active member of society. I want to help improve the distribution of health services to undeserved populations. I want to teach and educate individuals the importance of healthy choices and disease prevention, in addition to helping them during their period of acute
I always treat each person as a unique individual with unique life experiences. I treat my patients with respect and address their cultural beliefs and values. I pride myself with having a caring attitude and want to help and heal people from their illness physically and psychologically. I think nursing can be both science and art. I think to be a successful nurse; the nurse needs to master the art of caring and continually learn and apply knowledge of nursing science throughout their career.
We as a nurse also have commitment to learn and improve our knowledge and skills . Everyone has their own philosophy so as nurses grow in their nursing profession their individual nursing philosophy will grow too. My personal core value and belief as an individual is honesty, kindness, learning, and improve my skills. I believe that core of nursing is knowledge, safety , and integrity, which my philosophy of nursing corelate with the core of nursing so keep the focus on the patient needs , safety ,and treatment. Nurse uses his/her philosophy of nursing to explain what he/she believes nursing is , the role nursing plays in the health care field, and how they interact with patients, and what is the nursing

She was criticized by many people; nevertheless she forged onward and remained committed to helping the soldiers. Nightingale understood the psychological connection to healing and actually believed that nurses should always speak up when things was unacceptable or inadequate (Steele, 2017). The same values and beliefs that Nightingale displayed is the reason I continue to practice nursing. Nursing provides me with countless opportunities to deliver excellent, administer effective healthcare, and promote well-being among each of my patients. I take pride in being an advocate for patients who depend on my medical knowledge and critical thinking to provide the best treatment
