I had been anticipating spring break for what seemed like an eternity! I needed a desperate break from school and I was ready for some fun. I deliberated for a while trying to decide on what I really wanted to do. I missed my family greatly so I decided there was nothing better I could do besides go and see my family. Therefore, I spent my spring break in Richlands, North Carolina. I thought about what I would do while I was there and what I needed to pack. I contemplated going to the beach, having a picnic at the park, and taking my little brother out for frozen yogurt. I anticipated enjoying my spring break in a nice, warm environment, but that did not happen. I took out my phone, opened my weather app, and was shocked what I saw. A snowflake! …show more content…
My mom and I decided to venture out to town to get our nails done and go shopping. Our first stop was coffee from Dunkin Donuts. It’s my absolute favorite and I can’t get it here in Valdosta, so I definitely had to go. Me and my mom always have fun together, and this time was no different. I was having such a great spring break and I didn’t want it to end. I was definitely not looking forward to going home and having to start classes again. I was also not looking forward to the cold drive home. The heater in my car does not work, therefore I knew I would be freezing on my way home. I put on as many warm clothes that I could and made sure I had a blanket. I stopped and got hot coffee as well. That definitely helped keep me warm. Even though at first I was hesitant about having my spring break in the snow, it ended up being the best spring that I’ve ever had. I’m so happy that I decided to go and see my family and I wouldn’t second guess it next time. There is nothing better than spending time with the people who mean the most to you. I’m definitely using the fun memories to get me through the rest of the semester. You should never take for granted the time you get to spend with your family, even if that means freezing. My Dad wanted to take us parasailing, and my sister and Carrie (my new step mom) wanted to go shopping. We decided to wait for a boat to pick us up in the afternoon for parasailing, and before that we would go shopping. So we went shopping until we got hungry for some lunch. Me and Tori just wanted to get fast food because we didn’t want to be late for parasailing. My dad decided to just take us to Hardee’s, but it would take us awhile to get there because we had to go to the one closest to the boat, which was about an hour away. I love long car rides, so this was the time for rolling down my window and listening to my music on my
“Education is not the preparation for life; education is life itself.” - John Dewey. Every year, as we enter a new grade, new challenges approach us. Eighth grade is no exception., and will be very different from 7th grade. As I enter my eighth grade school year, I will be bombarded with a variety of new experiences and challenges such as buddies, academics, and being prepared for high school. One of the most important tasks that is thrust onto me is buddies.
I could write about millions of thing to you, but I would really like to tell you all about my summer break. Don’t get me wrong it was an amazing summer in all but, I just wish I had a little more time with my dad, and a little less time with work. My dad’s been in the navy for about fifteen years, I do believe. He’s been stationed in Maine, Louisiana, Ohio, and now, The Golden State, California.
Candles are lit, cookies are baked, the hot chocolate is hot, snow is falling, now it’s time to get our movie marathon on! The candles added such a warm feeling in the house. As we set up for the movies, I could hear my brothers fight over the last cup of hot chocolate. Even though there was still 3 packets of the coca left. As Sophie and I slipped on our slippers, we went into my warm, nice-smelling room and took polaroid pictures. We were having so much fun, we totally forgot about the movie! We went downstairs and realized we had paused the movie and had panicked over absolutely nothing. This year over Winter Break, I plan to sleep in, play in the snow (if it even snows), and bake with my friends!
Thanksgiving break a bust,I thought. The fall air swept through as my sister and I kept playing volleyball. My mom came bursting out,she was trying to catch her breath as I questioned,
Spring Break is a time where you get to relax and spend time off from your teachers and classmates. The two things I liked was getting to spend time with my team and getting eighth place at a state meet.
South Shore Schools should have school year round. South Shore should have school all year because it would give kids more time to learn more and in greater depth. Students would have three more months of school each year to learn more and since school is about nine months students would get about one more year of time in school every three years which could help students excel in their studies. Another reason why students at South Shore should have school all year is that during the summer no learning is enforced and students can forget what they learned during the last year. This can cause students to get behind in their studies when they come back to school and then students can get poor grades and learn less because they are overwhelmed.
One summer morning, I woke up excited. My friends and I were going to Hershey Park. I’ve been busy this summer, so this is the first time I was able to go. Hershey Park is a big amusement park with big roller coasters and a big water park. The Fahrenheit is my favorite ride there. I woke up, took a shower, got dressed, ate breakfast, and waited for them to pick me up at my house. While I sat on my couch, I had my bag with a towel and a bathing suit for the water park and I could put my phone there. I was ready to go.
Wednesday: Allow students to tell you about their winter break. You may even want to share what your break was like.
The first day of school finally came and I was so excited that I couldn't believe it was already here! “Wow, the first day of school came fast!” I
I haven’t always lived in Michigan. Before I moved here in in fifth grade, I lived in Tennessee, Florida, and Wisconsin. Because I have lived in many different places, I have experienced and learned many different things in many ways. In Florida, I had a pool and was 15 minutes from the beach, and thus lived a life of carefree swimming and outdoor time. When I moved to Wisconsin there was a stark change in how my days played out. Gone were the times of carefree swimming and shorts year-round, and in came the days of snow-shoveling, learning how to put on a jacket and boots, and waiting for the knock on my door in the morning to tell me that school was cancelled because of snow - this meant I got a full day to spend sledding with my brother.
Tons of people go on vacation every year. Spring break is usually the most popular with teenagers and or college students. Back when Geoffrey Chaucer was a famous writer, people went to a town called Canterbury. On this pilgrimage, or vacation, there was a variation of people that would go. Most of the people that went were very religious because Canterbury was a holy place, like modern day Jerusalem for Christians. On this trip they took people such as nuns, monks, pardoners, etc. In today’s world there would be different people that would go on this trip. In the “Spring Break” trip today there would probably be an athlete, a cowboy, and a hipster.
"Summer means happy times and good sunshine. It means going to the beach, going to Disneyland, having fun." This quote by Brian Wilson shows that extending the school year would not only feel more like a punishment but it would also be hurting the school. Some of the main reasons for summer break is so that: students and facalty can take a mental break, summer activtes, and so that teachers can get things ready for the new students comin in. This hiatus helps keep down the chaos.
I woke up Tuesday morning excited for the day I was going to spend with my mom. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking fresh coffee listening to my mom and aunt tease and joke around about how paranoid my mom was about doing well in her classes, my aunt was telling her that maybe now that I was there, she would relax a little bit and have some fun. Our plan was to go to one of mom's classes with her, and then on a tour of UNC and then we were going to go to dinner and a movie.
When I came inside I was so cold that I felt like a ice cube so my mom made me some hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was steaming hot! I had to wait for 8 mins, but it was worth it because it was so tasty and warm. My mom then told me that dinner was done. When I had smelt the delicious dinner mom made, my stomach had roared with hunger and I swear everyone heard it. We had a giant turkey, some mashed potatoes, and mac cheese it was the perfect family dinner, so delicious. When dinner was done, my mom said I had to lay down for school tomorrow so I leaped in my warm, cozy bed and put the covers over me and my mom said “Goodnight.” Man, today just seemed to fly by so quickly with all the excitement I had. As i drifted off to sleep all i could think about was how much fun my day was and I wish every week we had a snow
