There are always those people who go beyond and above our expectations in different ways and affect our lives whether they know it or not. Some people leave positive impressions and others can affect us with their negative behaviors. Some examples of people who I believe to be leaders in my life are my mother. Though she holds very different views on life than me, she is a huge role model to me. My mom is a hard worker and has always done everything she can for the best of our family. She has provided so many huge opportunities for me and my siblings that I am privileged to experience, like our college educations. My brother is another person in my life that I view as a positive leader. Even though he is much younger than me, he has helped shape me into the responsible and caring person I am today. It has been a joy to be his older sister, care giver, and play mate growing up She is a professional cross trainer and fitness model. I follow her on all forms of social media and have her book she wrote this past year. To me she is a leader because she has a presence and personality that stounds out and she uses this powerful presence to empower other women and show them that they can make an impact on their own health and life. To me she is an example that women can do what men do and well. Christmas Abott is the perfect example of a strong woman successfully carving her own path in life and I really respect and look up to her for that. I would definitely like to be in her position someday if it were at all possible. I check out her social media pages often and read her book to follow her way of living, which breaks down into eating and working out. I really try to live my life like her as best as I can with my conflicting schedule. This is mainly why she is a leader for me, because she not only emotionally impacts and motivates me, but Christmas Abott physically influences me day to
A leader is someone who goes out of their way to do the right thing and will go through what is needed to achieve that right. Leaders are specified by many different traits but the one trait that could make anyone a leader is a voice. That is exactly what made Rosa Parks, Malala, and Nina Simone leaders to everyone still to this day.
Leaders lead. They lead by example, by demonstrating and living out organizational values, and by being seen. A good leader will never ask a teammate to do something they are not willing to do. Leaders also clearly understand the central purpose of their organization and ensure it is crystal clear to every member of the team...and they are relentless in pursuing it.
Most people at some points in their lives are leaders; some people become leaders on a school group project (low profile) or leader of an organization or ...
Everyone has a different definition of what makes someone a leader. My definition is not a statement of requirements, but more so a list of characteristics. I believe it takes a strong, independent, dependable, open-minded, thoughtful, selfless, smart and creative, someone who can work well with others, able to work under pressure, respectful, and experienced individual to be a leader. I believe it is someone who knows who they are and know their morals, someone who has already found who they are in life and accepts who they are, making what I believe the most important characteristic is, is someone who knows and sticks with their personal values. If someone cannot respect values and stick to their word, then how can they be a leader of others? A leader takes a lot of work, but if you are good at it, it may seem like nothing. Some people are leaders and do not even know it, like role models. When little kids look up to certain people that have impacted their lives in a way, they will see those people as role models. Truth is, leaders are everywhere and not everyone knows or can see that. It's not always the person who stands out for taking control or being bossy, but the one with the characteristics and high values that do the right things, even when no one is watching.
Leadership affects my life in many ways. My father is a leader. He lead his company that he used to own to receive many awards. He is one of the nicest men i have ever met. My father is so easy to talk to and get along with. He got his amazing qualities from his father. I never had the chance to meet my real grandfather but from the stories i have been told it seems to me that he was one of the greatest people to walk this earth. "Big Daddy" is what my father calls him. We go to his grave in Chester Virginia every fathers day and see him. I have people come up to me on a weekly bases and tell me how great of a man he was. So many stories to be told about him, but not very many from my father. My grandfather inherited the business from his father. I have not heard much about him but i assume he was just as good of a man as my father and my grandfather. A leader steps up to the plate and does not cower away from a rough battle. A leader will prevail. I also try and form the leader i am becoming today by Doctor Allen....
A leader is a person that commands attention. The leader brings an ambience to the room. When a leader makes decisions, they have to be conscious about how they approach it. If you are considered being a leader, then people see something in you that no one else sees in you. As a leader, you have to consider the decisions that you make and that includes being ethical right. Leader should be prime examples for future leaders and show them the standards they have to uphold as leaders. The choice to make sure that you are not just making the right decision for yourself and others is a task. A person can only be a leader if they know how to be a leader. A leader is not for everyone and to be considering for the role you have to show that you are ready to the best. The role of leader does not limit themselves to what they do and how they do things. If you want to be a good leader, then look at leaders who represent good qualities. As a leader, you want to follow a person who does well and looks out for the good of people.
A leader is described as a person who guides others and has authority and influence over others. They work to influence others into meeting certain goals. There is no right or wrong definition of a leader and there is no recipe that ensures effective leadership. Successful leaders have a good balance of vision, influence, and power. Leaders gain their authority from their ability to influence others to get the work done; because of this, anyone has the potential to be a leader. (Finkelman. 2012, p15)
Leaders, an individual that people look up to for direction, inspiration, and guidance in life. Passion, influential, reliability, a vision, etc. These traits along with many more, are the things that make leaders great and successful. Everyone has different personality traits that make us capable of being leaders in this world and I learned that throughout this course. Everyone is different, whether good or bad, ethical or unethical, everyone has a leadership style all their own. “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader (John Quincy Adams).”
In a sense, I am a leader. However, that does not necessarily mean that I am the person on the front line with everyone following behind me. I am more of a silent leader. I am a leader because of my actions. Rather than go down the path
My earliest memory of a leader was my mom. My mom has been my leader my entire life. Being a single mother, working multiple jobs where she helped people and they looked up to her to see if they are doing right or not was huge. I’d often go to work with her on the weekends and see that or I’d hear phone conversations of her talking to people leading and guiding them to stay on the right track. I never realized how much watching her lead people helped make me into the leader I am
Who comes to mind when thinking about who the best role model is? Is it a friend? A sibling? Possibly a parent? For me, When thinking about who the best role model to have is, one person in particular comes to mind. She has been there my entire life, has seen me through thick and thin, and always supports me in everything that I do. The person that I consider to be the best role model is my older sister, Kelly. To this day my sister and I aren't joined at the hip, and I don't speak to her everyday, but my sister is still one of my closest friends. Growing up we saw things differently, but as I grew up and saw my sister go through life with a confidence still unrivaled, I realized she was the one person who I could count on to pick me up when
The term leadership often brings to mind people like George Washington, Ghandi, Dwight Eisenhower, or current day military or political figures. These people represent certain strengths, character, and moral behaviors that we attribute to the concept of leadership. At its core, leadership is the ability to influence others to work toward and achieve a common objective or goal. An individual can exhibit leadership at any level of society, not just high profile positions. In fact, leadership can even be witnessed among children and young adults.
There are both leaders and followers in this world, no matter which you are it is undeniable that without the leaders society would fall apart. Leadership as defined in the dictionary is “ a person who guides or directs a group”, although accurate this simple sentence does not give justice to the importance of leadership. People need to be guided and have someone to look up to, and whether you are born with leadership or acquire it the way you utilize it is the most critical. There are and have been many impressive leaders in this world but one who stands out is Nelson Mandela. Born into the Madiba tribe of South Africa a name he would later adopt as his own, he is known for his philanthropy, strong political influence, and being a revolutionist in the anti-apartheid of South Africa. He is such a shining example of ideal leadership not just because of the impact he had but the starkly different way he handled things for his time. He advocated compassion, forgiveness and determination causing him to be the first black president of South African reigning from 1994-1999. His death this december caused grief but also a celebration of the wonderful influential life he enjoyed. This union of people demonstrated how many lives he touched and the vivacious presence he brought wherever he went, which is why he will forever be known as one of the best rulers, one who truly defines leadership in the most veracious of ways.
Lastly, leaders drive projects and people to the finish line. They are like freight trains, unstoppable forces that will breakthrough any obstacle that gets in their way. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they plough through people that get in their way. A good leader will push teamwork rather than individual achievements. They compliment members of the group under their care in order to motivate team members and get them to buy into their plan.
When I think of someone who is a great leader I automatically think about current and previous managers I have had over the years, and honestly I cannot say that any of them are the definition of a great leader. So after I looked up many different definitions of a leader all of them basically defined a leader in the same way, someone who leads people. So, a leader does not typically have to be a manager it could be a teacher or a parent. That is when I realize that a great leader has always been right in front of me teaching me great values, and that is my mother.
