I have had many role models in my life I truly cherish but there are three great individuals who has molded and shaped me into the individual I am today. My first two positive influencers are Hermon & Eva Yates, my parents. My last role model is Sherry Wetherby, my sister in Christ. My mom and dad have been more than parents, but true role models for me and my siblings. I have had the pleasure to grow up on a dairy / tobacco farm and it was nothing short of spectacular. I learned about budgeting, death, faith and hard work at a young age. My parents instilled nothing but great values into my siblings and I. As I have mentioned before farming is a challenging task mainly because you have to plan and budget for long term. We had to budget money yearly in case a crop did not do as well as expected. Mom and dad both are great examples of strategic planning. Watching and helping mom to figure out yearly and monthly expenses has helped me to be an independent individual. Dad is always translating vision into reality when it comes to crops. I admire how he is able to vision the outcome and work hard toward it. When he says we are planting two acres of tobacco here and it should yield this amount and our earning should be about this amount, is truly a talent. This is a characteristic I am working on as a leader. My goal is to be able to lead my team to success by turning long term goals and vision into quarterly success. Being in charge of your own land and farm sounds easy but not always due to government rules to crops.
