It was a beautiful sunny day at the beach and everyone was having fun, a lot of kids were swimming others were making sand castles and others were sunbaking. But suddenly everyone else didn’t matter, the only thing that mattered was the model that was having pictures of herself taken to be put on the front cover of a fashion magazine. I was amazed by her beauty so I thought I would go and have a little chat with her, you know get to know her better.
By the way my name is Eric and I work part time as a lifeguard in the summer. My real job is martial arts teacher but I love swimming so I got my lifeguard degree and I started working part time at the beach in the summer holidays.
As I was approaching her I saw another guy walk toward her and started talking to her I thought I was too late but then I saw that the girl was trying to get away from him but he wouldn’t leave her alone. I walked over there and I asked if there was a problem and the guy said no but she said that the Josh (guy’s name) was hassling her and that she told him to leave but he wouldn’t listen to her. And I asked if she wanted me to kick him out and she said she wouldn’t want me to get hurt (how sweet). I told her that he wouldn’t be able to hurt me and said I could try.
As I approached Josh I saw that he was quite taller than me and that was nicely build. When I was near him he said “did the bitch call you and told you to make me leave?” And I said that I didn’t want any troublemakers on the beach and I told him to leave. He said he wouldn’t leave and he tried to punch me, but I was expecting that so I blocked and I dropped him. He got up and came charging at me but I moved and I kicked him so hard on the shin that he did a flip in the air and then fell. When he got up I told him to leave but instead he punched me in the stomach and then kicked my testicles. When I got up I was so pissed that even the crowd that had crowded on top of me made way.
That wasn't so damn much fun after a while. He never got mad about it, either. I've beat the hell outa him, and he coulda bust every bone in my body jus' with his hand, but he never lifted a finger against me. " ” I inched closer to the edge, looking down at the roaring waters.
He beat me until I swung back and forth by my wrists, half-crazy with pain, unable to find my footi...

“Vengeance is sweet” and “Revenge is a dish best served cold “are two statements often used to describe Revenge , but in British literature the idea of revenge leads to tragedy ;this fact is evident in the stories Frankenstein, Hamlet, and Beowulf. Throughout each story Particular characters are challenged by a need for vengeance. Revenge is a emotion that can be stronger than love and that comes saddled with hate, anger and tragedy. In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein the character of the monster is a intelligent , kind hearted being who spirals down a path of darkness after being rejected by his creator. Soon after this event he becomes reclusive and cold hearted in his pursuit of revenge against society and the man who made him. During the tale of Shakespeare's Hamlet the main character prince Hamlet slowly goes mad in his attempt to avenge his fathers murder ,and in the epic poem Beowulf the antagonist known as Grendel's mother begins to destroy the land Beowulf is bound by his fathers debt to protect after her son has been murdered . In all of these brilliant literary marvels revenge is a main concern with the characters and all of the characters who partake in the sweet victory that is vengeance soon taste the bitter aftermath that is tragedy.
The day had finally come, the day Brooklynn, and I would meet our idol. Brooklynn’s parents picked me up around 12:00, and we were off! Our concert was at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. It started to seemed like it was taking so long to get there. Traffic was horrific, and it seemed like we were always making little pit stops. There was a car crash, so all off the traffic was backed up. We, our usual selves, became very antsy. We started to wave at every car that passed us. That’s when we met Julia. Julia looked like our age, and Brooklynn and I started talking to her out of the window. She also was going to the Justin Bieber concert. I sort of felt bad, because her seats were at the very top of the stadium. I’m sure it was hard for her too see.
Approximately one year ago, I was eight months into my job as a lifeguard. I had already been instructing lessons for a year and a half, but lifeguarding was still relatively new for me. Even after eight months, I
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare the theme of revenge is heavily embedded into its frame work, seeing it follows Prince Hamlet in his task of avenging the mysterious death of his father. After encountering the ghost of his father Hamlet was lead to suspect that his uncle Claudius, who took over as king of Denmark after marrying Hamlet’s widowed mother, was the father’s murder. So although by simple glance it may seem that Hamlet was in search for revenge throughout the play, Hamlet took many precautions to insure that the action of removing his uncle from power was truthfully deserved. So, Hamlet ultimately sought justice for the murder of his father, but through strong emotions hamlet did commit several uncivil acts that played an
Throughout history, revenge, or vengeance, has been altered by several cultures and even the American culture. This is shown throughout many ancient greek epics. Throughout these two epics, what is just revenge and what the action of revenge is are much different than what Revenge is seen through today’s society. Revenge is the main theme in The Iliad, with Achilles’ revenge on Agamemnon and Hector, and in The Odyssey, with Poseidon’s revenge on Odysseus and Odysseus’s revenge on the Suitors, and these epics define how revenge was seen in the ancient Greek world.
In 'V for Vendetta' directed by the Wachowski brothers, and 'The Count of Monte Cristo' directed by Kevin Reynolds, there are two characters known as V and Edmund Dantes. These two characters are similar in that they are seeking revenge, but ultimately they are different. When looking into their paths of revenge, differences between the two are revealed. The first difference is why the two want their enemies to suffer. The second difference is the influences of the people close to them that affect the outcome of the paths of revenge. V and Edmund Dantes are different when looking into their paths of revenge, in that they seek the previous two points of difference.
“Those who plot the destruction of others often fall themselves” (Phaedrus). This quote was said by a Roman fabulist and it depicts the entire concept of revenge in Hamlet. The nature of revenge causes someone to act upon anger rather than reason. Hamlet takes place in Denmark and is about Hamlet’s uncle who kills his dad to gain power of Denmark. After the killing, Hamlet seeks revenge on his uncle. In the play, there are several characters wanting vengeance like that of Hamlet. Throughout the play, Hamlet, Laertes, and Fortinbras all had a tragic death of a family member which caused their decision for revenge. Consequentially, these revenges caused the demise of two characters and the rise of power of another. The retaliation shown by the Prince of Denmark, as well as Laertes led to the downfall of their government.
Taking revenge is a bitter sweet thing. I have always thought that people should always get what they desire, whether it be a grade, a smile and hug or in some cases, revenge. When I was in high school there seemed to be someone always trying to get me in trouble, they would say things that wouldn’t be true or do things to make me look bad. The fact that I never seemed to do anything to them would make me mad and wonder what I could do to get them back. Revenge would usually come in some sort of verbal put down or I would try to physically hurt them. It always seemed when I would get the revenge right away I would feel really good but as I thought about what I did, and what they did to me I would always feel guilty or wish I would have never done anything to them in return.
People can be motivated to take revenge on others for various reasons. While these reasons may be considered as very serious or rather trivial, they are all motives for revenge. Revenge occurs when a person has been offended or angered by an individual and in result they have the desire to pay them back. People’s opinions on revenge differ from each other, some may believe it is justified and some don’t. Mahatma Ghandi believed that revenge is not the answer and he stated that “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind”. This quote portrays the opinion that if everyone gets even then there will be no one else; if we all take an eye for an eye everyone would be blind. Revenge can be learnt through real life experiences as well as fiction and can be shown as justice or unacceptable. It becomes difficult to determine when revenge can be justified but is revenge always worth it?
... thought that maybe we won’t be friends or even know each other in the future. Unexpectedly, we all had these feelings of fondness for a place we a come to despise and couldn’t wait to leave. Why would that happen to us? We all realized that in this moment we’re growing up but are far from “grown up.” Suddenly, there is a flash of light and in that moment I knew that the three of us would be separated for the rest of the day, maybe our lives. The flash brought everything back. It gave us a reason to go back into the hallway and meaninglessly chat with our friends. After we left that room we were still sharing a moment together but in a different sort of way. The picture was there and we had superficial thoughts but the graduation was so much more. It marked a major time in our lives and sent us off into the future. No longer were we the next generation because we were being sent off into the grown up world. Would we all still be appreciated? How is the world going to receive three naive girls who don’t know anything? All these questions were to be asked and to be forgotten because we got caught up in the moment. The picture marks that time in our past and an important time it was.
While on the road my friend’s sister and I got to know each other very well. We talked about how we were doing in school, and many other things. As time went by we could see the mountains getting closer and closer to us. We could not wait to climb El Capitan. When we finally arrived, we unpacked and got ready to hike El Capitan. On the way up the hike we had a great time because as we hiked up we talked about how cool it was going to be up there on top of the world.
My eyes were deteriorating fast since I started using Tumblr. Driving to school past the park I came to terms it was autumn my favourite season: Trees almost naked with every branch bare, hearing the sound of rustling when people stomping through a crowd of crunchy leaves, though when the wind breathes it accelerates a leafy tornado swirling in a circular motion, smelling a fresh batch of rain from minutes ago and seeing the glistening as the biggest star made I admired. I use to walk to school every morning before my mum left us. Dropping Kaylee off at school I took a right turn where Jessica insisted to meet by the cascade fountain. I parked and by squinting my eyes I could already see she was dressed impressively kooky today. A jacket duplicating the print of a burgundy floral couch, vintage purple satin blouse with J’s scattered all over in different colours, an eagle bolo tie, the stripy snazzy saffron skirt, suede slip on shoes and to compliment her rouge knitting glasses someone had gifted. She ran to me.
