Leadership is not about having a title, big office, or having followers. Successful leadership is about having the courage to make the right choices, engage others in your vision and empowering followers to pursue choices for the common good. A great leader will leave an impact on their followers that will last a lifetime. My personal leadership philosophy is shaped by considering various factors, of which the first would be knowledge of one’s self. A leader must know and understand their core values such as, authenticity, passion, service, humor, growth and learning. Successful leaders are genuine and make it safe for followers to speak-up. Pushing through the challenges of a full commitment to this lifestyle of leadership requires a sense of humor and a willingness to re-align one’s life to one’s passions. A leader who stands out will motivate their followers to reach success through their individual and collective efforts. A good leader must be faithful to his team and activities which will create an atmosphere of assurances with the team. A leader’s faith and knowledge in their self abilities and the world around them will help them gain inspiration and inspire others. As I work through my own challenges to become a great leader I hope to become a great leader who leaves a positive imprint on the people I lead.
