The ethical dilemma in the given scenario is rescuing the trapped victims who are crying for help from ACME medical center which is currently burning with smoke by risking their own life to go back into the building and rescue them after realizing the potential danger verses leaving the people behind and wait for the next rescue team to arrive since helicopter rescue efforts are failed due to the helicopter crash. A character trait is a disposition or a readiness to act in certain ways and some character traits are supportive of high ethical standards (Purtilo & Doherty, 2011). My personal value and ethical belief in this given scenario is utilitarianism theory which describes that is an act is right, if it helps to bring about the best balance of benefits over burden which is a most important teleologic theory. From a utilitarian point of view, I should consider several different courses of action in order to accomplish the goal of safety and all the actions should fit into the outcome that brings about the most good or least harm. As per utilitarian point of view I will consider several different courses of action to ensure safety and prevent further harm. The most important action would be activating the emergency help and ensure the safety of the people who are already saved including special attention to the sick infant. After activating the emergency rescue team, assigning task based on their skills such as calling for more help, taking care of ill infant, finding another alternative route to escape from the roof.
