My Personal Philosophy of Education
"Some people make things happen, some watch while things happen, and some wonder ‘what happened?’ Which type of person are you?" author unknown.
There have been times in my life in which I have sat back and watched things happen. I often wondered why they happened. I now realize that it is important to be a leader. Effective teachers need to take charge and make things happen. I am becoming a teacher to make things happen and not sit back and let them happen as I used to do. This is very important for a teacher to realize. I will take charge and make wonderful things happen in my classroom.
Teachers immensely influence children’s lives. In my entire school experience I have found that teachers can make a difference in the lives of every child. I admire all teachers for their hard work and determination. I have seen students who, without the teacher’s love and guidance, would have missed out on so many opportunities. I chose to become a teacher to help those children less fortunate than others to look at themselves as worthy individuals. My father has been a constant source of encouragement in my life. He is a teacher at my local high school. He cares about his students, giving extra help to those who need it, and recognition to all students, not just over achievers. I have seen the hard work, long hours, and emotional stress that he goes through every day. Despite all of the difficult aspects, he enjoys his job. At the end of the school year as he sees his students achieve beyond the goals he has set, he is proud of each student and all of the prior frustration was well worth it. He is the reason I chose to become a teacher. His teaching strategies are ones that I hope t...

... is the responsibility of the teacher to instill in these children the knowledge they need to be productive in the world. In today’s society it is important for children to have good role models. I believe teachers should be proper role models for everyone in the community. Teaching is one of the toughest jobs in the working world. It takes hard work, determination, much effort, and time to be an effective teacher. I believe I have these qualities and am prepared to keep practicing them in my classroom. The great Mortimer Adler, a father of perennialism, said "In the case of good books, the point is not how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you." I believe the same principle exists in regards to teaching. It doesn’t matter how many teachers a student has, what is important is how that teacher gets through to each student.
Kellie and Derek’s portrayal of a high energy, fast paced, roaring 20’s number was complete with a black and white intro and a live jazz band suppling the music. The physically and technically challenging quickstep is defined as “a lively step or combination of steps in ballroom dancing” (quickstep). Judge Len Goodmen gave the duo some advice before preforming live on how to properly execute a quickstep, “you’re are a couple of magnets and
...get to Hogwartz, students must board the Hogwartz Express which departs from Platform 9 ¾, the secret platform accessed between stations 9 and 10 through a brick wall. It is clear the Hogwartz is purely fiction, full of mythical creatures and imaginary spells and charms however the setting that it takes place in is very real, as most of the footage from the movies was filmed in Britain.
...speech, action, etc.) Orwell’s 1984 describes the superior position of a powerful leader in one country affect the living condition of its people. He even emphasizes on the weakness of a normal citizen, Winston, when he reveals that not even the truth will defend them from living in fear. The Benefactor and Big Brother are two dictators who use different types of propaganda to control its people mind consciousness. The authors uncover through the dramatic and fatal outcome of both D-503 and Winston lives in comparison with fear and threat. Even today, people still continue to live in propaganda; over mass media. Overall, this technical state reveals that human will never be able to escape from living in full of lies. Therefore, both authors especially Zamyatin urge the readers to expand their minds to improve the life of others and to keep believing in ourselves.
Many individuals, teachers or not, only do what they are asked or expected to do. However, going above and beyond and being able to have greater influence on a child’s life is my goal. I know I will love my job and in this position, children and families will be going through difficult and not normative life events. It is essential to extend further assistance to make each individual feel important. Being someone who can help families understand and make their lives a little bit easier by providing support and encouraging optimal development, I can hopefully make a meaningful impact on a child and/or family. The child and family satisfaction would bring happiness in itself and be worth more than
By being an active participant throughout Leading as a Way of Serving, I have had the opportunity to learn so much through assignments, in class activities, demonstrations, and the class retreat. When doing the tasks and taking time to reflect on the experience, I have come to learn that each aspect of the class had a greater impact that the original intention. In thinking about whom I am as a person and how each moment can be a new opportunity for learning, I can live each day in confidence in knowing that I can continue to grow as a servant leader.
Psychological contract is the unwritten contract that illustrates a set of expectations exists between the individual and the organisation (Sonnenberg et al, 2011). Svensson & Wolven (2010) point out that it can be a relationship between the members of a group, the people who work in the same company, department or organisation, several groups or parties in an organization, etc. It includes the work performance requirement, job security, training, potential development, compensation and subside. Psychological contracts are the mental representation based on belief or perception, so it may help the employees and employers get rid of a complicated employment relationship. For instance, the employees and employers may understand very clearly about the terms and conditions and what they have been agreed upon. The perception of each individual is very important and essential (Ekelund et al, 2010, 1438). Thus, when they work in a high competitive group, it could motivate them to implement their work consciously. Combined with a few exceptions, some researches cite that psychological contract is only regarding to the employee–manager relation and the term that mostly...
Successful teachers develop the whole child by making integrated efforts to promote their student’s academic, social and emotional learning. Children need to be aware of themselves and others; make responsible decisions, and be ethical and respectful of the people around them.
... aspirations A majority of people, such as myself, have been exposed to the Israeli position or have been told simply that the two peoples have been fighting since the beginning of time. The problem I find, however, is that Said is unable to address the question of what now is to happen or should be done with Palestine. He simply concludes that one thing is for certain: Jews and Palestinians are both here to stay. Even though it is extremely difficult to find a solution that we are still searching for, he does not even attempt to answer "the question of Palestine," which is why I feel the book fails to break new ground. I recommend this book to any person who is pro-Israeli and would be very interested in hearing a refutation to the events and evidence presented by Said.
It is my belief that anyone with a desire to change the world would be fortunate to work in education. By sharing my vision with others, and building upon my skills while seeking constant growth, I strive to take an approach to leadership that fosters an effective, nurturing educational environment for the entire school community. By creating this type of environment, as well as through embracing and enhancing my leadership strengths, it is my goal to contribute to society by inspiring people to become better not only as teachers and students, but as compassionate human beings.
Do you remember the teacher that inspired you to do your best? Or maybe the teacher who believed in you when the rest of the world had turned against you? Teachers have a way of touching students’ lives, whether in a large or very minute way. I can think of numerous times that a teacher made a difference in my life. I am so appreciative of them, and I want to do for other students what many of my teachers have done for me. That is why, after I obtain, both, my Bachelor and Master degrees, I plan to enter the teaching profession.
I would not be considered your typical college student in search of an education degree. I am a 31 year old male, married, with two children, and working on my second career. My previous life consisted of working in the coal mines till I was injured. My injury, however, is considered a blessing in disguise. My injury has leaded me to the world of education.
Teachers serve as the guiding force in a student’s life. They are responsible for molding a student’s personality and shaping his/her mental orientation. Teachers deeply impact our lives and direct the course of our future. One cannot deny the influence of teachers in one’s life. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, till a certain age, out life revolves around our teachers. They are our constant companions, until we grow old enough to come out of their shadow and move ahead on our own.
I have decided to become a teacher because I love children. I enjoy watching them grow, and I want to make a difference in the lives of my students. As a teacher, I will do everything that I can to ensure that each becomes a productive, successful citizen in life. In order for me to obtain this goal, I will create a loving, positive, respectful, and safe learning environment where each student will be treated equally and be encouraged to do his or her best. Keeping this in mind, there are four elements that I must remember which includes (1) how young children develop, (2) what they should know and be able to do, (3) instructional strategies that I have learned, and (4) my feelings regarding parent involvement.
As we know, children spend about thirteen years of their childhood (if they graduate) in school around their peers and teachers. Most children go home to busy households where parents do not spend quality time, such as; listening, and disciplining them like they need to. So when these children go into the school the next day, they need and adult to pat them on the back, listen to them, discipline them, and encourage them to keep on trying. Children need to be encouraged so they will try harder. I want to there to give them that extra push that they deserve because many teachers gave me that encouragement to me. These days encourageable, energetic, and determined teachers become evermore important in today’s busy society.
I believe that education should be looked as as a desire to acquire all possible knowledge, not as a requirement or something that can be formally examined by standardized tests. There are numerous ways that children learn and I want to be able to encourage as much learning as possible for each child. I believe that using many methods of instruction is the most effective way of teaching to these various ways of learning. These methods include group work, hands-on activities, buddy work, etc. Assessment of children should follow the same idea. When children get the chance to perform on different assessments, they can adequately show their strengths and weaknesses. I do not wish to rely on tests only to assess the students in my class. Some types of assessment that I think should be inlcuded in a classroom are journals, presentations, projects and interviews. I also think that the classroom should be run with the help of the children. By distributing jobs among the children and everyone participating in the classroom, the students will form a sense of togetherness. This will eventually create a community within the classroom. I feel that this community of learners is essential for the students to perform effectively and efficiently. They will feel comfortable in the environment and will not be afraid to take risks or ask questions. The teacher will also be a member of this community and will not be seen as unapproachable or as the only leader.
