My Personal Leadership: A Reflection Of Leadership

A Final Reflection January 12th. I learned something important that day. Walking into the classroom on the first day, I didn 't know what to expect. I had never taken any courses in leadership or management yet, or had any significant leadership positions. The first things that came to mind when I heard the term leadership were famous names of leaders from history, and not what made them considered to be leaders, or how they came about becoming leaders. I was in belief that leadership and management were synonymous terms, and they intimidated me. I always thought of leadership was a quality in itself. A quality that people are naturally born with, and a quality that I wasn’t sure my personality possessed. But on January 12th, I was taught that leadership is a collection of traits, it comes in different styles, and it’s not inherent, it’s learned. Personal ethics provokes a plethora of thoughts in my mind―what is right, according to me, and what is wrong? Are my beliefs in accordance to what society thinks and feels? Will my personal ethics help me go a long way in my career? As I go on thinking and penning down my thoughts, I am relieved, and proud to say that my list of ethics answers every question in my mind affirmatively. With the help of the ethics game I learned that Reputation is my preferred lens. I define an ethical person as one with sound character traits and habits of thoughtful reflection. Those who demonstrate strong leadership in their roles and who encourage others to do the same exemplify ethical behavior. And what I value in other is a reflection of my own core values. I prioritize equality and sensibility over autonomy and rationality and use my intuition to determine what character traits and virtues will best serve the
