Take A Stand: Essay
What is homeopathy? If you would have asked me that question at the beginning of the semester I would have told you something like; “Homeopathy is witch doctor medicine,” “Hocus Pocus,” or “Medicine for granola crunching hippies.” However, jump ahead 30 days and whoa, not only was I completely wrong about what homeopathy is, but come to find out I’m extremely interested and intrigued by it. In only thirty short days, my entire way of thinking about homeopathy and naturopathic medicine has completely changed. Three things that helped changed my perspective about homeopathy are; Laws of Similars, homeopathic remedies, and my own personal experiences with homeopathic medicine.
Homeopathy comes from two Greeks words meaning “similar to disease or suffering.” In Greek, the word “homois” means similar and the word “pathos” means suffering. A German medical doctor named Samuel
Homeopathic remedies are really interesting and have proven to work. After checking with my physician last week to make sure it was okay, I started taking the homeopathic remedy Kali Phosphoricum 30c for my tension headaches associated with fatigue. I started off with the recommend dose of five pellets three times a day and by the end of my second, five pellet dose my headache was gone. Okay, first off if you know me, then you know that I eat Advil, Tylenol, and Excedrin like Skittles because I ALWAYS have a headache. An average day for me with a headache consisted of me taking four Advil Migraine capsules in the morning, two extra strength Tylenol tablets over lunch, and four more Advil Migraine capsules in the evening. Can you imagine my surprise when my headache disappears after only the second dose of Kali Phosphoricum? Yeah, it was pretty
Today’s doctors stand overly dependent on chemical pharmaceutics when drafting treatment plans for patients. Physicians should first endorse treatment plans involving natural, homeopathic medicines, especially when aiming to solve miniscule health issues.

In America today we have experienced the greatest advances in the fields of medicine since the middle ages. Diseases such as polio, the bubonic plague, and small pox have virtually been eradicated. With the advances in the pharmaceutical industry, drugs are being manufactured that offer relief and hope to patients that once had no hope. However with all of these advances, we still have a ways to go. We are still trying to find cures for diseases such as Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s, diabetes and even cancer to name a few. So what can we do and how can we address these debilitating and often life threatening diseases? Are their possible cures and what measures do we need to take to get there? The answer, the missing component, is looking
Homeopathy medicine is a self-healing alternative medicine developed in 1790 by German physician and chemist Samuel Hahnemann. Homeopathy medicine aims to treat the whole body and not just the symptoms. Homeopathy medicine was very popular throughout the united states during the early 1900 but began to die out after the civil war. Homeopathy medicine is approximately 200 years old, though it is believed to have originated in 400 B.C through Hippocrates. However, Samuel Hahnemann gave this medical practice a name in the late 1700s and developed three principles for Homeopathy medicine that still stands today. Homeopathy medicine was developed in the late 1700s, which saw a period of unhygienic and brutal medical techniques. Samuel a physician
In conclusion, A Day in Acupuncture was an excellent experience. The author felt energized after her treatment. For many centuries, humanity has been on an eternal quest for cures and treatments for many chronic conditions. At the present time, conventional medicine is mostly performed by doctors and other health care professionals, with the extensive use of pharmaceutical drugs, surgery or radiation treatments for disease treatment. Conversely, even though not as popular, complementary and alternative medicine and treatment options are slowly gaining popularity and becoming an addition to traditional medicine.
In today’s world, many people assume that the latest medical technology and treatments are always the best option. However, all over the world, different techniques for curing diseases and aliments are being used. These methods fall under the category of complementary and alternative medicine.
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is slowly becoming better known all over the world. CAM encompasses various types of therapies, such as yoga, reflexology, chiropractic therapy, herbal therapy, ayurveda, meditation, biofeedback, hypnosis, homeopathy, acupuncture, etc. The evidenced-based research, recognition of disconnect between patients and also the positive and negative aspects of CAM modalities are reasons behind the increased attention it has gained in medicals schools all over the United States. (Hart, 2009, p. 287).
It is due to the lack of proper skills and experience among the designated healer that a modality turns to be looked down upon as not effective.
Modern medicine has eradicated diseases such as smallpox, polio, and malaria in many parts of the world, preventing many deaths. Yet, with many emerging alternative practices, the American society is slowly becoming more reliant on alternative medicines with little scientific evidence. However, one alternative practice, homeopathy, is slowly becoming accepted by many physicians. Now that homeopathy is sanctioned by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), many physicians and scientists believe that this practice is as effective as allopathic medicine. Even with the acceptance by the FDA, there are still low amounts of prescription medicine based on homeopathy and many homeopathic remedies are not used in hospitals. This creates a question: If many physicians suggest the use of homeopathic medicines, does that actually mean it works; can they be equivalently compared to allopathic medicines? Although homeopathic medicines are considered as alternative medicines, approval by the Federal Drug Administration allows homeopathic medicine to be used in equivalence to over-the-counter allopathic medicine.
Over the centuries, several treatment methods have been utilized by humans for remedy diseases when they caught. Two of them are modern medicine and traditional medicine. Traditional medicine, which is also called alternative treatment, is older than modern medicine. This effective treatment had been used for many centuries before modern medicine was found. On the contrary, modern medicine has been used since the 1900’s (Lyons). In this system, drugs’ tests are carefully done in the safe laboratories, and their side effects are identified before they are given to the patient. Moreover, the effects of the pills are written on the leaflets which are found in the drug packages to warn the patients for these effects. However, sometimes the side effects are not blocked, so people have to take another pill to get better. It makes people take more chemicals into their bodies. Even traditional medicine, give its place to the modern medicine when its beginning times, it is used efficaciously like modern medicine at the present time. In course of time, people will gain reliance on traditional medicine again, since alternative medicine is more efficient and powerful in order to get better and soothe the diseases than modern medicine. In fact, in traditional medicine, there are fewer drugs, side effects, holistic therapy that people can be availed.
Homeopathy is a type of alternative medicine. The beneficial effects of homeopathic medicines are controversial (1). Homeopathic medicines are based on the premise that like is cured by like. This premise states that a disease can be treated with a substance that causes the same signs and symptoms in a healthy individual.
