Personal Career Goals

I love that the scope of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) is so extensive because I have a thirst for continual learning and career development. I enjoy trying out different fields of nursing, evident by my varied work experience to this point. As a FNP I can continue to satiate this desire to try different fields. In addition to working in primary care I’d like to practice a mixture of the following FNP sub-specialties during my FNP career: endocrinology, pain management, surgery, palliative care, hospice, genetic counseling, education, and research.

Strengths I have to enhance the FNP profession

I have been focused on developing many of the necessary qualities for the FNP prior to the beginning of my nursing career until now. I completed my Certified Nursing Assistant during my junior year of high school and started working at a care center for mentally and physically handicapped children. Here I developed a
I reviewed medication lists to detect meds that must be taken the day or surgery and which ones were contraindicatory. I also did a significant amount of education on what to expect, specifics of the surgery and/or recovery process etc… FNPs can fill education or training roles in their own practice or at a university. In the PO I developed nursing standards, new employee training programs to ensure best patient practice, and I also worked with our software development team for a new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) called PeteAdmin2. I communicated the needs our team had from the program and when we found bugs in the program I problem solved with the head software developer to fix or work around them. The federal mandate for electronic records makes my familiarity with the process of implementing a new EMR and my competency in four EMR systems
