Autobiography My nursing experience and application of nursing theory is still relatively young. I attended Georgia Southwestern for my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from which I graduated in 2016. Prior to this I obtained my CNA license in high school which was my first introduction to patients. It was at this point that I decided that I wanted to provide quality compassionate and the best medical treatment possible to people. Since graduation I have begun to work at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, GA; and began nurse practitioner school. At Houston, I started work as a Nurse Extern on an acute medical floor. The opportunity to work as a nurse extern prior to graduation and up until the point of passing boards allowed to begin my journey to comprehending and applying nursing theory. This particular med-surg floor relied heavily on the best nurses they had to teach new nurses. I took this experience with me post boards with me, post boards to the Emergency Department. As one of the newest nurses in the ER currently and one of a handful able to do these I have strived to learn as much as possible in regards to patient care, while leaving behind none of the nursing metaparadigms. The four concepts of the nursing metaparadigm are: Environment, Health, Human Beings, and Nursing. These concepts guide me in every interaction from assessing the patient, to treatment, and discharge instructions.
