My Mexican Culture Essay

Whether trekking among the icy peaks of the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy, or admiring the majestic salt cathedral at Zipaquirá; Being the second most biodiverse country in the world, Colombia is breathtakingly beautiful. The natives are known to celebrate just about every aspect of life, proud of their thriving country, long since the infamous days of Pablo Escobar. You will most likely be welcomed to the community with music, festivals, local foods, and plenty of curiosities about the American culture. Populated by over 400,000 tribal peoples, from 60 ethnic groups, Spanish is the national language. Being fluent in the Spanish language, adapting to Colombia’s culture will just make for the most indulgent cultural experience for me.

Apparently I shouldn’t expect much of a difference in the Colombian culture either. I, however, have taken the time to acquire such a habit that I hope will be used to gain respect in the classroom and in the community. I have come to the understanding that my students in Colombia priorities their time a little differently than the American traditions. Family and relationships define individuals, family matters are prioritized over work and personal education. Students not being able to attend class because of a family emergency or a new addition to the family is considered a normality. By displaying my punctual habits, I hope to influence my preferred methods as well as the standards to successfully achieve the students classroom
