Immediately I rushed to his aid, but once I heard his contagious laugh I knew all was well. I started my way back to my ATV so I could pull his out. This was a great start to a fun-filled weekend. Although we dreaded every day that had to pass before we left, we were ecstatic on our departure day. Three weeks before the trip, I turned sixteen and received my driver’s license.
The surface was originally encased in smooth white limestone which must have caught the sun light and reflected its rays. It has the distinction of being the site of the first large stone structure built in the world. The place where humans began to strive for the impossible, where the imagination gained the power to transform reality. Some of the loveliest works of art ever seen can be found at Saqqara, in the tombs of the nobles. The limestone walls are delicately incised with myriads of animals, fish, birds, insects, vegetation and people - hunting, herding and farming.
Speeding and racing seem to be my favorite hobby when I sit on the car and drive. And I don’t even care what will happen to me when I’m speeding and racing. Besides, my life just barely got out of a hole and ready to get back on track. Unfortunately, an incident that had tilled my life until this day would never be able to fade away. During spring term when I was still attending at Cal Poly Pomona University, two weeks before the final; my friends and I, three of us went on a road trip to Sacramento to attend to my friend’s girlfriend high school graduation ceremony.
And to have the opportunity to spend the entire weekend with the one person I loved more than I can ever explain was like a dream come true. If someone had said to me that on this day, I would see my favorite musician with the man I cherished, I would have told them to wake up, as they must have been dreaming. Friday, I spent the whole day planning every last detail. I printed the map and directions since I had never been to Austin, TX. I arranged to have my mother's car for the weekend, and I made sure I had enough cash.
I was blasting my music for the majority of the drive, but as I was only several minutes away from my destination, I made a decision to turn it off for the rest of the drive. At first my mind thought of all the things that I needed to get done, mostly assignments that needed to be turned in, but after I sorted all of it in my mind I started to have peaceful, creative thoughts. The scenery around me made feel nostalgic and happy about my life and where I was. It was the first peaceful moment I had had for several weeks, and because of that I noticed that I was significantly more energized when I was with my team. I 'm one of the captains, so my teammates expect me to be a leader on and off the field.
As I walked out of those doors a little over a week ago, I immediately determined that I would one day like to revisit my observation placement and corresponding teachers as either a guest, pre-professional, or even a professional. After all, it is a symbol of the beginning of my hands-on training necessary for becoming a teacher, and holds many of my personal experiences as a pre-service professional. As a result, this institution that offered me such valuable experiences that were nothing short of positive will always have a special place in my heart, and I will always keep it and my experiences there in mind as I continue my journey towards becoming a
We put on some fast-paced driving music, a band called INTEGRITY(they're a hardcore band), and left the worries of Johnson behind us. The trip was a lot smoother in good company, even though our driver, Justin was getting a little frustrated while driving in heavy traffic. He has a short temper, and following a line of cars that are going thirty-five miles an hour in a fifty zone does not help. A sigh of relief passed through the car as we came into Burlington. Justin dropped me off at my house in Burlington at four o'clock, a few hours before his show started.
Congratulations on getting accepted into High Point University! I remember when I got my acceptance letter and I was beyond ecstatic. After my excitement died down I quickly got very nervous. Being from Connecticut this was a long way from home and if I wanted to come home for a weekend I couldn’t just hop in car and drive for a few hours and be there. But I knew that I wouldn’t belong anywhere else except HPU and although this year was filled with a lot of homesickness, the experiences I had and the friends I made triumphed over that feeling.
The date was Friday, August 16, 2012. after a tearful farewell with my girlfriend of seven months, I drove to the DMV to trade in my restricted license for a full adult version; a small change, but one that preceded a chain of events that would shape my life to come. The next day, I was to embark on a journey to Union University, leaving behind what I knew from high school to embrace my college career. Heraclitus once said, “the only thing that is constant is change.” Aristotle believed that this change is positive; as something’s potential (dunamis) is becoming its actuality (energeia). All people have to grow and change to become who they are meant to be. Even Jesus had to grow and learn to fully realize his purpose as the Messiah.
After my whole family was piled into the car, which as my sisters and I got bigger was a harder and harder task, we would wave goodbye to my grandparents and any other relatives that had come for the day. As we would pull out of the driveway, I would think back on the day and realize that I had to go back to the hustle and bustle of my everyday life. The trip home was not as long as the way over, but I could never wait until the next time we could go back to my grandparents' house in Cedaredge, for a relaxing day of spending time with my family and forgetting about our hectic life for at least a little while. Now, with both my sisters in college, the day when we go to my grandparents' house does not seem to come often enough.
