Women’s rights have been debated for many years, even just in the country of the United States. After the revolutionary war, women plead for equal rights, were denied even after their great contribution. Flash forward several years to 1848, when women officially began the revolution of what is now known as the Women’s Rights Movement. Slowly conditions improved for women as occupational and educational opportunities began to increase. There were suffragists protesting the white house in the early 1900’s and during the civil rights movement of 1960, there was another increased focus on the women’s equality. Over the years, women’s right have continually improved, though not without a struggle. Often, the treatment of women is depicted in a lot of poetry and literature alike. Robert Browning, a great poet and novelist wrote of such things in some of his poems.
