Duality, multiplicity, and relativism each describe different ways that students will interpret information. This is important because it reminds us that students will process information and learn differently. We have to set up our activities to be able to reach students in different ways. I love the example in the presentation on career counseling. Career counseling is currently part of my job and I have to work with students to help them develop a career plan.
A leading teacher is someone who is an inspiring learner that is continuing their growth and improvement in their life. I think that this would go under passion to become a better person then you are today. As a teacher it is important to be able to have that continued passion to grow as a teacher and to learn more strategies and ideas for the classroom. Also to have that passion to have your students grow and become better educated. Diversity is also important to incorporate in the classroom through my ELL class we were taught the importance of diversity and culture in the classroom, so that every student feels welcomed and comforted in the classroom.
As I reflect on what I have learned through the first half of the course, I am enlighten of the information that I have read as it influence me as a Therapist and an upcoming teacher. To learn about how to manage a classroom and recognize behaviors in a student to establish a successful classroom setting is always important to a teacher, but to actually read different strategies and discuss the information with other classmate to get a valid understanding in the information, improves my knowledge and capability to provide the information with both my clients and future classroom
The skill is something one continues to improve on, and shape a better understanding of it. The underst... ... middle of paper ... ...ecting students learning at a college level is the teachers. The teachers may bring some effect on the students life to which can make multitasking a challenge. The students as a whole will have to learn each teacher’s way of presenting classwork, and assignments. The learning styles of each teacher will help the students be more prepared in forthcoming classes.
I have seen that The Masters of School Counseling degree provides students with a chance to learn more about their inner selves and abilities. Not only will this program prepare me for life beyond the classroom, but it will also provide me with the opportunity to offer the needed support to the students with whom I will be working. When students develop a positive and trustworthy relationship with a School Counselor, there is no limit to the things that they can accomplish. School systems shouldn’t just teach content knowledge, they should also offer real world experience. Sharing simple things about our lives can be used as a tool when teaching.
Introduction: Structure, praise, humor, firmness, patience, and high expectations: Welcome to the wonderful world of the classroom atmosphere. Imagine yourself in a classroom where your teacher is there for you, both academically and emotionally. That’s how a classroom should work for both the students and the teacher. Mrs. Mary-Kay Maurer is a perfect example of all of these qualities since she is what has motivated me to become the person I am. Her support as a teacher led me as a student to achieve my highest.
This class forced me to become more organized. Through the various assignments, I have mastered the use of technology. I learned to communicate through discussion question with my classmates and instructor. Therapy is very effective treatment for mental and emotional problems; however, in order to reap the benefits, it is important to choose the right therapist. Someone a person can trust who make them feel cared for and has the experience to help make changes for a better life or self.
I hope they feel they can come to me when they need help with not just a school problem, but a problem in their personal life or when they just need some to listen. I hope I can model the same teacher characteristics to my students as I felt she showed me. She was caring, warm, and very interested in her students’ total well-being. Mrs. Schuette was the teacher who made me want to become a teacher. She showed me how much of a difference I could make in my students’ lives.
On a personal level, I see myself developing leadership skills in this course. I have felt as though I have learned the experience; therefore I have to practice skills in way of sharing whatever I can and I appreciate the opportunity to do so, too. I am also enjoying the exchange that in class after group therapy runs the feedback given by instructor and classmate as well. I feel that this is a very thoughtful group of students and instructor and I am stretching myself to learn more and share what I have learned. The readings text book is provide knowledge of a basis for support of how to run group therapy and I find myself I have to closely grasp some skills and converted to actions.
According to University of Hawai’i Manoa, developing student learning outcomes “helps students learn more effectively and make clear what students should expect from their educational experience”. For example, it is very important that teachers must show, read out, or write the learning outcomes on the board at beginning of lesson so that student can always refer and look at it to expect what they are going to learn and gain from the lesson. Not only that but, with the help of the teachers and the guiding questions and activities will help the students achieve the lesson outcomes. According to Goucher College, writing a lesson outcome “increased student awareness of their own learning which give students a way to think and talk about what they have learned and make it easier for students to “know what they know” and give them a language to communicate what they know to others. For example, when teacher give questions and activities for students to do, it should be questions and activities that will facilitates students learning and help them met the outcomes.
