In my discussion posts there is a pattern that is made apparent to my readers, and that pattern being I find my family, gender roles, and also a positive outlook on life very important in my life. These three things are very important aspects in my life because of the way I was raised and how I grew up seeing these almost every single day. I’m at the point in my life where I’ve lived and experienced gender roles, a close-knit family, and have always looked a life in a positive way, and I believe now it’s too late to change, but if I could I’m not quite sure I would even want to. I mention how my mom took care of the family, worked, and ran my sister and I around to every place we needed to be for our sports. Because I grew up surrounded by this, I don’t know anything different. While my Dad did the yard work and the “manly” tasks, my Mom did everything else. This is how I currently live my life. I take care of my boyfriend; I cook, clean, and do anything else I think he needs to make sure he has what he needs in order to be successful while he does the other tasks that need to be done that aren’t in my element. I am a firm believer behind every successful man is a strong and supportive woman, and I make sure I can be supportive in any way possible. As much as gender roles have changed in the past few years, like men being stay at home Dads while the women re the breadwinners; I don’t think I will change.
