In this manner, It is a direct result of my parents that education become the important part of my life and why I strive each day in school to get great grades. In additional, through my entire life my parents have been there to support me on anything I needed to do. At whatever point I require help with essential things in life my parents generally gave me a positive answer. For instance, whenever I require help
The way a person behaves is a reflection of how and where they were raised. From birth, we are taught to behave a certain way and have certain family expectations that we must meet that will then play a key role in shaping our identity. But family is not the only factor that influences identity, friends and environment help shape our identity too. Family, friends and environment help shape our identity greatly from the beginning of life up till adulthood. You spend a great time of your life with family who then influences your identity from the beginning of your life.
I put each of their answers to together and found what makes family values so important. The main argument of my interviews is that family values are crucial. They help shape and build our character. As stated by my mother, Debra Franckowiak, “Family values are like building blocks of a young person’s life. At an early age, we learn our values from our parents.
Throughout my life I have heard a wide range of stories from my parents. When putting this assignment together I have put these stories into account. Randall Bass, educator of English at Georgetown University, concurs that stories shape individuals ' personalities. Bass expresses that, "People infer their feeling of personality from their way of life, and societies are frameworks of conviction that decide how individuals experience their lives" (Bass 1). Social stories about family history, religion, nationality, and legacy impact individuals ' conduct and convictions.
A promise that left me with a beautiful memory, and up to now I remember as if I am reliving it. My grandpa was the greatest grandfather of all, he always took care of his little girl, and even after being gone for so long he still care. I have no doubt that everyone in the family has a wonderful memory, of the man that played with us. It is hard to forget someone so important in your life, someone that gave everything that he was to make you happy. He was the man that always kept his promise, the promise that change his little girl’s life.
My family’s influence on me has made me seen the importance of marriage and how much beauty it has to only be touched by my husband. The bond is much more pure and the love is so much stronger. Being each others first as husband and wife is such a beautiful thing. I recognize my family’s influence on this matter and am grateful they have this worldview. The importance of this worldview has been pass down through generations and I will continue to pass this down to my children, and hopefully their children.
Assignment 9: Power, Influence, and Decision-making in Families It states in our textbook, “The concepts of family power, influence, and decision-making are interrelated” (Galvin, Braithwaite, & Bylund, 2014). I believe that statement or quote to be true after reviewing my own experiences in life and interviewing my parents as a couple on how power, influence, and decision-making are done in their relationship. It says in our book, “power is present in all human relationships and interactions. Power has been conceptualized as the ability (potential or actual) of an individual to change the behavior of other family members” (Galvin, Braithwaite, & Bylund, 2014). I asked the question, how you guys approach power in your relationship as a couple,
It has been interesting making all of the connections from the articles and journal topics from this class to my own family. Also reading about how globalization has been affecting transnational families made me realize that families around the world are more similar than I thought beforehand. Families seem to have similar reactions to certain events no matter what culture they may come from. Writing about families every weeks has also given me time to reflect on my own family and the family I will end up having in the future. I have been able to learn better communication techniques to use with my own family members and I hope to continue these same techniques in the future when I start my own nuclear family.
They are close to their immediate family and close friends, and seek advices from them but they still make the final decisions themselves. They also said they can rely on them for their child’s care too. They believe the baby will bring more people closer to them and would be a positive influence in their lives because the baby is all they ever wanted. The family support system includes their families and close circle friends. They said their support system would help them with childcare, meals, and babysitting.
I think my own family is considered an open system. I feel like we hold no secrets and we are able to get what we need to out on the table. I’m comfortable talking to my family about whatever. We usually are open to new ideas and can handle change well. The only few closed things I can think of are if there is a money issue, or if there is a health problem in extended family.
