Introduction: On the 13th of April our THA class Naha travelled from Wellington to Picton, South Island. Our famil trip included many different destinations such as Picton, Kaikoura and Blenheim. At these places we were fortunate to visit some attractions such as the Edwin Fox Museum where we got to see olden day scenery as well as a ship that is located outside the attraction. It was spectacular. Eco World Aquarium where we got to see different kinds of Sea Creatures, felt like we were under water at one stage. Also Whale watching where we got to see and watch Whales and Dolphins in their natural habitat in Kaikoura, it was an amazing experience. We also visited The Makana Confections chocolate factory down in Blenheim. We got to see how the …show more content…
The Bluebridge Ferry was an amazing way to travel Picton because we got to see beautiful scenery while making our way down to the South Island, also it was a new experience for me as it was my first time travelling with Bluebridge. There were many onboard facilities such as a movie theatre, free Wi-Fi for personal use and to stay connected with families and friends while travelling, a dinning suite area for you to enjoy your meals and hang around just to name a few. The prices on the Blue Bridge ranged from $30.00 for single room and a family berth up to 4-5 people max. I found that the rooms were at a reasonable and affordable price too. Our other transportation was The Marlborough Tour Company. They drove us around the local area Kaikoura and Marlborough areas and back to Picton. We drove in a Tour bus that had 24 spacious and comfortable seating, the bus had air conditioning in it. We had the privilege of having Allen as our fully license bus driver, he was amazing. He spoke to us about the bus rules and some general knowledge about Kaikoura, Blenheim and some of the local Vineyards that we passed. My experience with Bluebridge and Marlborough tours was amazing knowing that we were all ensured that we will be safe and well looked after. Staff members were caring, had excellent customer service were was extremely polite. I would recommend …show more content…
I would highly recommend going down to the South Island for a school trip as it was my first time in years going back to the South Island as I have lived in Christchurch before. My highlights would have to be seeing many well-known attractions, The Kaikoura Whale watching, and seeing all my classmates bonding with each other. This famil trip has brought us closer as a class and made our bond stronger. I would have had regretted every single bit of famil if I hadn’t gone on famil. I’m glad I got to go on famil and shared an amazing experience with good people with good company and our two tutors Hemi and Krystal. Thank Hemi and Krystal for looking after us on our 2 day famil and all the tutors that made this famil possible.
To me, the drive felt like forever even though it was only 35 miles from Petoskey to Mackinaw City. As 10-year-old me sat in the back seat of my mom’s car, I remember repeatedly asking the question most parents dread to hear, “are we almost there?” Every time I asked she would shake her head in bemused frustration and respond, “you’ll know when we get there”. At the time, I was not sure what I was most excited for: the ride on the ferry, the big horses, the historical fort, the inevitable delicious ice cream; it all sounded whimsically amazing and I could not be more excited to arrive on Mackinac Island.
There are things that you will see here that you just won’t find anywhere else. Nothing else matches the spirit and love the native Hawaiians and local residents have for the people that come to visit.
It was the last day of school, my friends and I all planned to go to Kings Island the next day. There is a big problem, the thing is I don’t ride rollercoasters and I’m terrified to get on one, I tried to act excited when my buddies kept talking about it but it was just hard because I’d be the boring one not getting on any of the rides. I knew that this trip was going either make me conquer my fears or become more scared of them.
It taught me important skills that cannot necessarily be taught in a classroom. There are many important traits that make up a “well-rounded” student, or even just a well-rounded person. Things like being caring, open-minded, reflective and even a risk taker. They are all very important aspects of being a successful student and person. I learned so much about these traits while on this trip. I learned the importance of being caring. It is always important to be caring. I learned to be open-minded. So open-minded. I had never been to another country. Never flown without my family. And I did it anyways. I was a risk-taker. And lastly, this trip forced me to be reflective. I thought about it for a long time while I was home. I have even thought about returning and doing a study abroad program. I thought about the food and the music and the beaches but the one thing that I could not get off my mind was that sweet child. Meeting that young girl and coming in contact with her sweet demeanor and contagious laugh motivated me. It made me want to be around people with that same character. It made me want to be with children, everyday. And it made me want to begin the path of becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. This trip was extremely influential in helping me decide my future. So here I am 6 months later enrolled in a Nursing program. It was greatly because of the
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It is understandable why so many people travel such great distances to witness this eye appealing miracle of nature. They come to see the many species, such as fish, coral, and other marine and bird life. There is no doubt that tourists who visit here will never forget their experience.
In the summer of 2013 I had a life changing experience when on the first day of the climbing season I slept at the peak of Mount Fuji. It was there on the roof of Japan as I watched the sunrise, I fell in love with the beautiful of the Japan. The idea of returning to Japan was always something first and foremost on my list. I returned home and enrolled in a Bachelors program so that I could qualify to teach there.
I grew up in Hawaii, on the island of Kauai, in the middle of the Pacific. Life was more simple on Kauai, as our choices were limited to family, school and the “aina”, the Hawaiian word for land. To me, “aina” meant respectful hiking in the mountains, swimming, surfing and family outings at the beach. More than anything else, this wonderful episode of my life taught me two very valuable virtues of life, patience and tolerance. The concept of “Island time” runs rampant in Hawaii. Although it is frustrating at times, it teaches you to wait for things, because they happen at their own pace. It helps you to understand that sometimes there is nothing you can do to change it. Most often, “island time” relaxes you and relieves the tension and pressures of daily life. I remember several times when i actually hoped “island time” would happen and remove the stress from the moment. I learned about tolerance, from the concept of “Aloha”. To many tourists “Aloha” means “Hello or Goodbye”, but to Hawaii residents it means so much more. Aloha is a spirit, or a way of life, where people get along regardless of race, religion or culture. As Hawaii is one of the most culturally diverse
The famous Waikiki is uniquely located on the south of Honolulu. It is famously known for its appealing white sand beachfront. In the 1940s Waikiki’s outstanding developed environment became a tourist destination for many. Today Waikiki is home to many fascinating public attractions including the Honolulu zoo, the Waikiki aquarium, and the Fort De Russy Military Reservation. Throughout the years, Waikiki has grown to become such an exquisite area to visit. With Waikiki’s astonishing display of paradise, many people around the world long a desire and fantasize about this wonderful place. Many of our visitors adore Waikiki so much they consider moving here.
Each of us had learned something from that trip. For me, this experience has taught me what gratitude is, the impact a good attitude has, what a servant looks like, and really how the relationships we make with our life are the most important aspect of life. It was the summer after my freshman year of high school. Earlier in the year, my parents had decided that they wanted to go on a mission trip as a family and serve somewhere.
The trip to Singapore this summer was the most educational and most enjoyable trip I have ever taken. Weeks later, I still look back at my photographs, email several people daily from the US and foreign delegations, and tell my friends and family about the experience.
Allowing me fantastic experiences that aided in personal development. One such experience occurred after grade 10, and it ignited the travel bug inside me. I went on a one month exchange to france where i got to not only improve my language skills but I made some incredible friends and got to see an entirely different part of the world. My family lived in Aix-en-Provence in southern france so while i didn't get to see any castles I did get to go scuba diving for the first time. During my stay the family also took me for a week to Corsica and another week in italy. This experience was not only incredible for sightseeing but also i learnt a ton about a new culture and gained a sense of independance after being away from home for the first time and surviving a month an entire ocean away from my mom. I would have never had this experience and I certainly would not have adapted so well into their home had i not taken 9 years of french
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
Asia was awesome! Everything, from the food I ate to the people I met, gave me a new perspective on life. I still cannot get over the fact that I have traveled to the other side of the world. This school program gave me many memorable experiences, allowed me to learn a lot about the culture of Asia, and introduced me to friends that I'll treasure for a life time. I knew that there was a reason I got to go, and while I was there I tried to make the most of such an opportunity.
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
