But we must know how to use it because there are advantages and disadvantages. I do not need to turn the computer on and off and I do not need to connect to the internet line for using the internet. For using internet or the other devices, I need only fingers. I just press the icon button and then start to find information. I like to use smart phones more than computers because I can find information and do others things with my fingertips, son it is very easy and fast. Also, I can do lots of things with smart phones. For example, I can take pictures, make plans with family or friends, play games, and listen to music. Commonly known as the Internet, the world’s largest network is used extensively throughout the world today. Since its creation in 1983, the Internet has continued to grow in popularity and use as a commercial and private communications medium. Millions of people throughout the world use the Internet in a variety of ways, ranging from personal conversations to on-line shopping. According to a survey compiled by Nua Ltd in 1999, the number of Internet users rose from 26 million in 1995 to 205 million in 1999, an increase of almost 700% (Nua Ltd)! With such an explosive increase, how then has the Internet affected us personally, and how has it affected the way we do business? The answers to these questions include changes in the way people obtain information, interact, work, learn and conduct business.Given the Internet’s original purpose is to share information, it is no wonder that the most important asset of the Internet is the wealth of information that can be found on the Internet (Maney 3).
Technology is very important tool for advancement of human life. We can utilize technology to help us in everyday life, but it can also do the opposite than what it is supposed to do. Laptops and phones have become a very important part of our lives in past decades. Now we can easily get hold of our loved ones and deliver important news within seconds and share our experiences with online social sites with family and friends. I remember the first time I sat on a computer; it was an IBM with a windows 98 installed. We didn’t have Internet connection at the time, and we mainly used our computer for work. The Internet has been around for almost half a century, it has helped us humans communicate easier, get around the world accessibly and exchange goods and services effortlessly. The Internet helped us facilitate a lot of tasks; in the past we had to do a lot of work to get something we needed. Nowadays all of what we can possibly want can be done with a click of a button. The Internet can enhance some of our cognitive abilities; understand thoroughly what we want to know, new concepts and different ways of acquiring knowledge and eventually sharpen our brains to live better.
Since the Internet has emerged from society, access to information has been made readily available for anyone to discover. The Internet connects us to the world everyday, whether at work or at home. Internet as a medium has been a thoroughly discussed topic, especially in recent years with the rise of the World Wide Web. Analysis of relevant literature in the topic shows that the internet is not a new medium. This argument can be shown by looking more in depth into what defines a medium and what defines the internet. From that analysis by looking from a historical point of view the internet can be seen as an old medium which uses re-mediation to deliver content to users.
