Honestly, before I took this class I had no clue on the restraint on structure that can possibly affect the architecture. I always looked up at tall buildings and tried to understand how they really stood up. It was no mystery on how the transfer loads worked and the importance of the column design. Most column placings in a building are not randomly places they mainly follow a grid. I Know last year this helped me out with my design in studio and my design while studying abroad. Something I found extremely useful during class and assignments was the awesome free body diagrams! I finally understood what they were for and I knew how to draw structural components like beams in sections. I know often while we studied as a group we found ourselves
One thing I noticed immediately while in class was that connecting dates to their significance events was incredibly hard for me to remember. I would take diligent notes, pay close attention in class, and clarify any questions I had. But in class the very next day, I had forgotten almost everything. This made testing especially difficult. I knew I would have to come up with new, innovative methods for learning. I began trying new methods of note taking such as reorganizing them so I could connect words and numbers. For example, in English class when studying vocabulary, I would associate the definition of a word with another word that rhymed or sounded similar. It is amazing how architecture has blossomed. As technology has grown and people have gained knowledge in the wide array of architecture many different forms have developed.
There are many strategies that can be used to help students study efficiently. After participating in the “VARK Questionnaire” the results revealed that I have multimodal preferences. (A multimodal learning preference is a preferred way of learning new information or material that incorporates several different styles of learning. Different modes of learning are combined such as, visual and auditory). Two of my strongest points in studying are reading/writing and kinesthetic. As I don’t use one specific strategy, I have many different study strategies. A very common technique is writing down information using the internet as a source. Most of the research that I provide is aided by the internet. I like to take notes on the research so that it will be easier to summarize the information. Another common strategy I use involves reviewing the information I have gathered repeatedly. Even though I tend to understand certain difficult topics with visual aids but I still use memorization as a key method. In most of my school related environments, memorization was a technique which was used influenced by instructors the most. Visual presentation, diagrams and charts are also very helpful in the studying process (VARK, 2013). When I am studying complicated and/or lengthy topics visual and physical representations are very essential. The use of visual aid helps me process the information more efficiently and remember the material. Some topics can be very complex and harder to understand, when you have situations of this type I address them with another individual.
An awesome tip you can apply is to make use of things that are important and valuable to you by utilising them in the background of the subjects. Utilise the things that carry importance to you and a lot of valuable memories as motivations.

At the beginning of the semester my outlook on this course was not so good. I was not looking forward to giving speeches or learning things that seemed like common sense, but as time went on I could tell that I was actually taking things away from it. I have learned that I am not so good at coming up with things to say under pressure and I get extremely nervous when I have to talk in front of people that I don’t know well. Oh wait, I already knew those things. This class has motivated me to strengthen my social skills and has also taught me how to effectively work in a team environment through the team communication consultant project. I will show this by analyzing my teams strategic plan, the cohesiveness of the team, and the productivity of the team.
put us in a group project. The project we had to do was to build a bridge out of popsicle sticks, and see how many textbooks it could hold without breaking. In this case working in a group project is better because others see the flaws you create and fix it when you would not notice it. An example of a flaw is when I thought only two parallel sides would hold up those heavy textbooks. When we observed it, we realized it would fall quickly because the weight would not have been distributed nicely. I am for group projects because it lets kids share knowledge together, so you could get the greatest grade you could possibly get.

Out of everything that we 've learned this quarter, goal setting was something that stood out to me. There are a few times where I set a goal in my head but end up never achieving them, wether it was something very simple or more of a long term goal. A technique that stood out to me in our notes is, writing down your goals. I don 't I 've ever written down a single goal that I 've had. In class and in our notes we talked about how it is important to write down your goals and how you cannot just write the general idea of your goal, but how you need to be very specific in what it is you want to achieve. From the unit of chemistry in grade ten science, the students have learned many things from different types of elements in the chart all the way to how each element impacts the daily life each student or even adult lives in. Some of the things I as a student have learned include how to draw the different elements in a bohr rutherford diagram, balancing chemical equations, types of chemical reactions, and even information about the different types of acids and bases. Although there were many other things in the unit, these four definately helped me learn about chemistry in a more in-depth way, as well as teaching me something very new since these were some things a few of the students had never done in the previous years. Learning this in the classroom has really opened my eyes to the world in which we live in today, many times I leave the house on a cold day and as I look upon the cold water becoming ice or even the snow falling down, I know how it is happening, why it is happening, and I can even picture the molecules solidifying as we had seen in class with many different diagrams.
