My College Experience

This year I started my first semester of college. It was time for me to say goodbye to my friends and family, and start my journey as an independent young woman. I was going to have to adapt to a new environment and although I knew I could do it, I was still a little uneasy about my surroundings. I am not too far from home, knowing that made the transition a bit easier. If I were to get overwhelmed I would only be a few hours away from home and could go back and visit. I was excited about starting college, even though I was not particularly excited about the school I was going to. I was weary about my attendance here but then I looked at bigger picture and really thought about my long-term goal. My friends and my family encouraged me to make the best out of my situation and be grateful for my scholarship. After a well needed self-evaluation I figured I was going to make the best out of every situation. So, when the school year started I was determined to finish the first semester with excellent marks. College most definitely helped me with a lot of aspects I struggled with in high school. I enjoyed the people but I could not see myself finishing at Ferris. After a long talk with my mother I decided I was going to leave Ferris and continue my education elsewhere. I was proud of myself for making this decision because I knew it was best for me. Deciding to leave was a very important decision for me because I had to make sure I was doing it for the right reasons. Although I am leaving this school I am very grateful for the opportunities I was presented with. This semester really changed my life and helped me grow as a person. I have become more aware of what I want for myself and I am confident that this change will help me further my career
