“What do you want to be when you grow up?” These were the popular questions that adult individual asked us when we are young. Living in the rural community for almost of my existence, was very difficult. When I was young, I helped my parents to earn a living. If older people would have asked me, what I want to be when I grow up? I do not have the definite answer because my concern was to earn money to help my family to have food for the day. My parents will always remind me and my siblings to study hard because education can help a person to go on with lives and have a decent living in the future. I wanted to save lives of other people and I will not let the incident that happened to my father, who died without knowing to rescue by CPR or the proper way, such as calling 911. To my mother that have asthma condition, I wanted to offer my help and educate people the importance of having the knowledge to treat this condition in a way that I can make a difference in their lives. To the family members who smoke a cigarette, I am hoping that I can effectively convince and let them aware the effect of smoke pollution in our body and also to the people around them. To answer the question, “Who I want to be when I grow up?”, the Respiratory Therapist career is definitely a calling to myself that guide me where exactly the path of medical field I am going to in this stage of my life. Sometimes the experience in life will guide and lead an individual the road to persevere our dreams. These reasons help me proceed and choose respiratory therapist as a profession. It is possible to achieve my goal with the help of the brilliant team of Respiratory Department of my alma matter College of Southern
