All in all, I could remember I wanted to be a veterinarian. I had been responsible for the feeding and care of the family household pets ever since I was in the first grade. It was set in my heart to provide love and a nurturing environment for the animals that I so deeply loved. After a few years of research, I realized that I wanted to change the lives of people instead.I believe that I am destined to work in a field relative to helping people feel more confident in themselves. My career goal is to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Chemistry in order to start my path to becoming a Dental Hygienist. I come from a little town in Roxboro, North Carolina, where my brother and I survived off of my mother’s disability check every month. In 2009, my mother encountered a work accident that rendered her disability. She spent several months in the hospital and tons of bills began to pile up. After coming out of the hospital, things began to deteriorate. We moved seven times within a three year time period. Stress became a huge factor in our lives, even causing some …show more content…

The best option for me was to move in with my father where I knew things would be a lot better. My father graduated from Shaw University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management and is now working on his Masters. He graduated with Honors and was recognized for his hard work as a Magna Cum Laude student. Being his only child, I appreciate everything that he does and will continue to do for me. He pushes me to my full potential and is my biggest supporter. Unfortunately, college funds aren’t entirely sufficient on a teacher’s.salary. My father currently serves as a ISS Coordinator/ Teacher at a high school in the Orange County School Systems. Teachers in North Carolina don’t get paid as much as other states, which is why I am doing everything that I can to make going to college possible for
