If someone had asked me 13 years ago, when I first started my career in Education, what my long-term plan was, I would have surely responded that I planned to retire as a classroom teacher. I returned to college to pursue teaching as an adult, and was sure, at the time, that I would always be satisfied in that role. The truth is I do love my job. I love seeing that light bulb go on! As many teachers do, I spend many evenings and weekends researching and planning and going way above and beyond my expected duties in an effort to make a difference for every child. But time passes, people grow, and experiences change people in ways they didn’t see coming.
Throughout the course of my career, various professional activities outside the classroom have led me to reconsider my long-term career goals. My personality and enthusiasm for my work often places me in a leadership role, even as a classroom teacher. I frequently take the lead not only within my immediate team of teachers, but district-wide among my grade-level peers. My district has diligently been working to rewrite our entire k-12 math curriculum. I enthusiastically volunteered to join the curriculum committee and found myself very involved throughout the process over the past year and a half; often taking on the leadership role in my grade-level. That project, among others, has led me to realize that I get a great deal of

I can’t know for sure what God has in store for my future, but I feel a strong pull to strive to make a broader impact than I can have in a classroom. I know that my personality, my work ethic, and my genuine desire to ensure that all students receive the best possible education we can give them will enable me to be a successful leader in education, whether as a Curriculum Director or as a Building
As a college student, I often find myself inundated with work. To make it worse, these assignments usually are uninteresting and irrelevant. It is in the midst of these tedious exercises that I begin to wonder whether all of this work is worth it. When this issue creeps into my mind, I think back to my reasons for choosing to pursue this profession. When I started college, I knew that I could not function in a typical nine to five job. The banality and predictability of such a career simply did not appeal to me. So that essentially ruled out any course of study which would lead to such an occupation. I also knew that I wanted a job that would allow me to make a difference in people’s lives. My mind carefully contemplated the list of possible vocations, and ultimately the field of education seemed to possess the strongest appeal. A teaching career, I figured, would allow me to have a strong impact on the lives of young people. I wanted to help them grow both as students and as people, just as my teachers had done for me. So, despite the warnings of many current teachers, I enlisted myself in a curriculum devoted to teacher preparation.
Why is education such an essential part of our culture? We, as a society, are extremely materialistic and view education as a ladder to a higher socio-economic plateau, which consists of better job opportunities and a better lifestyle. Education is at the core every career imaginable and, regardless of technological advances, there will always be a need for teachers. Teachers touch lives every day. I am becoming an educator because I feel that I can positively influence the lives of others. I am confident in my ability to interact with others as I look forward to improving students’ lives through education.
As a young lady I have decided to become an early childhood education teacher. Throughout my high school years many of my friends have been thrilled to study a higher education level in college. The majority believe that being a teacher is not what I should do for the rest of my life because the income is not as immense as other careers. Many suppose that this job is simple, but in reality his job re...
Over this past summer I’ve worked at a recreational park mentoring young children. I was still determining what major I wanted study upon college move in day; I was clueless. A week before dispatch, a girl wrote me a letter. It read “Dear Mr. Christian, Thank you! You are making a great impact in our community. Sincerely, Madison” after reading the letter it inspired me; I realized teaching was my strong suit and the Education field was best for me. Teachers take on many roles in student development such as a family figure, mentor, role model, motivator, etc. The goal of a teacher should be to influence children, motivate them, and then watch them sprout into well-rounded individuals. Many people see teaching as an underpaying profession,
Presently, I am a Special Education teacher working with children who have a wide range of learning disabilities. My goal is to help students achieve their goals by making the appropriate modification to meet their needs. These needs are not limited, but may include emotional, physical, or cognitive. To start with my interest in this field is because I feel with the proper help and assistance; students are able to achieve anything. Education is essential for everyone. Undoubtedly, the reason why pursuing a PhD is the right decision for me, is because I enjoy what I do, I believe that helping is the key, and more importantly students are in need. At this level, my ultimate goal is to help students that have a learning disability and provide them with the proper resources needed to enhance it. In addition, want to help students to conquer their obstacle and give them the motivation to strive for the best. Introduce students to an education with no limits. In general, I want to have the opportunity to see all my education, hard work, dedication, and motivation in this field, to be well payed off. Admittedly, I want the opportunity to look back at my journey and say “it was all worth it”.
First, I volunteered at the Faith Academy which attempts to create a community where children love learning and grow in their love for God and partners with families in build a solid foundation with which they will use as their foundation to help carry them throughout their lives. My personal mission was to teach a bible study course to help instill strong ethics in values in the lives of the children that I was in contact with. I strove to exude confidence in the young men and women that I touched with messages from the gospel in order to help the community and elevate themselves and the community in which they lived. I enjoyed having the opportunity to help change their lives from thinking only of themselves to thinking how they could impact their community for the greater good. My personal Leadership style is a Servant Leadership style whereby I try to serve the children that I was in contact with laughter as well as by providing them with the tools they need to succeed. One of the strengths from the StrengthsFinder 2.0 assignment that I used with the children is my Futuristic Theme. I fought hard to get the children to dream about a better life and focus on what they can do to individually shape the future of their lives as well as have a positive effect on the community as a whole. I helped teach them to be dreamers of what the world could
First, I evaluated myself to determine what kind of a leader I am now. In order to model the way, I had to be able to articulate my leadership philosophy and how it applies in my classroom. Next, I wondered what makes me a good teacher; I considered how do I inspire students to want to learn and how do I motivate them to try when it gets hard. I also found that challenging the process is my greatest challenge because this practice involves confronting a system or group of people; confrontation in any form is one of my greatest challenges in motivating myself to get out of my comfort zone. I do not consider myself a ‘mover and shaker’. I tend to try to find where I can fit into a system and then contribute to that system using my own talents, skills, and knowledge. I feel confident in my ability to enable others to act because the process involves helping people feel empowered. A teacher develops that empowerment by informing, modeling, practicing, and revising knowledge and skills during the course of each lesson. Finally, encouraging others is certainly one of my personal spiritual gifts; I am an optimist at heart. The glass is half-full; the cloud has a silver lining. As a teacher, I spend a great deal of time urging, encouraging, and praising
My professional plans for the future are to immediately start teaching when I graduate college. However, on my own time I plan on expanding my education to the furthest extent I can in order to continue learning along with my students. Education lies within the strength of a single person, a teacher. The teacher who gets the strength to rise out of bed every morning and face a new day. A teacher has to hold their head up high when they walk into a classroom for fear that the slightest show of weakness may destroy them. To achieve this is the most important purpose in a teacher's life. A teacher is someone who is willing to teach students even when they crave to do other things with their time. An achievement in education lies solely within the goal of becoming greater, which I plan to strive to do.
Ever since the sixth grade I have known I want in my future. By setting this goal early, I have earned opportunities that will help me be successful after high school. Having a vision for my future has allowed me to step up and fill numerous leadership positions, learning valuable skills that will help me in my education and the workforce. I am a leader in community organizations, as well as state and nationwide organizations related to law and politics—my field of passion. These leadership positions allow me to gain the necessary leadership experience to develop into a leader both in my future profession and the community I call home.
Getting a job is probably the most worrisome matter for college seniors. Nowadays most students deem college education as an investment that can eventually bring profits in the long run in terms of a financially successful career. To this end, a great number of students major in the most lucrative majors, which are not their actual interests. Luckily, I am able to dive into the field I love in college, and it blends with my career goal perfectly. I like teaching and conducting research, so I hope to become a psychology professor at a research university some day.
It is important to recognize positive aspects in oneself in order to move in the right direction. As a high school learning disabilities educator I am able to present information in a way where students can understand it by presenting real life examples they can relate to. I am a proactive educator with the desire and capability to assist my students and school in achieving success. I am very technology savvy and believe that it is a pertinent strength that is needed in order to be an effective educator and administrator.
It is my belief that anyone with a desire to change the world would be fortunate to work in education. By sharing my vision with others, and building upon my skills while seeking constant growth, I strive to take an approach to leadership that fosters an effective, nurturing educational environment for the entire school community. By creating this type of environment, as well as through embracing and enhancing my leadership strengths, it is my goal to contribute to society by inspiring people to become better not only as teachers and students, but as compassionate human beings.
Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
A teacher is not what I have always wanted to be. As a matter of fact, it wasn't until I had taken several of my general studies classes that I made a commitment to teach. Having played football through middle school and high school, I just assumed that whatever I did would have to be related to football. It was, however, during a time of reflection that I thought about a former football coach and the rapport that he had with me and other players. He wanted to bring out the best in each of us. It was then that I realized that I wanted to do the same.
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
