My Career For Nursing: A Career As A Nurse

No one decides to purse a career in nursing for the the long hours, the crazy schedule, the hefty workload, or the countless amounts of bodily fluids they will encounter, they do it because wanting to be a nurse lights a fire in their soul. They do it because a lifetime of getting to do what they love is worth more than the long hours and bodily fluids. From a very young age I loved being able to help people and as I grew I realized nursing would be the perfect career because I would be able to do what I loved. I want to be a nurse because I want to help people, I want to make a difference, and I want to give back to others. According to Dr. Val Gokenbach “ Finding your passion will lead you to finding work that motivates and satisfies you.”
From a young age I developed this motherly instinct where I always felt the need to want to care for the people around me, little did I know 15 years later I would be able to do it as a career. Being a little girl I enjoyed helping my grandmother take her medications, putting band aids on my sister when she hurt herself, and helping my parents test their blood pressure. I want to be a nurse because I want to make a difference, I want to help patients in their most helpless state, I want to be their to encourage support and help heal my patients. Nursing isn 't for everyone because not everyone has what it takes to care for others but nursing is for me. I obtain qualities that make up a great nurse, I have great communication skills, I’m capable of adapting to my surroundings, I’m sympathetic and sensitive towards others, I have an eye for detail, I work well under pressure, and I have respect towards others.
