The introduction to placements session was very helpful in outlining why it is critical that I take up the opportunity to do a professional placement to not only increase my chances of getting a professional level job after graduating but also because it will give me valuable experience and a chance to try out a certain field that I am interested in to see if it is for me which could be one of the most important aspects I think. It also showed me that I really had to think about my skills and why I would be a good candidate for a particular job because this is often asked in interviews and applications. I have my career development portfolio from first year, which helped me think about the skills I possess and how they are useful so I can …show more content…
I added my A level results and the grade for the first year of my degree as well as the title of the degree itself. Since I wrote the CV I have gotten a lot more work experience too. I often work in the office of my families’ electrical contracting company and with the electricians too and I know it is very important to get my job history down so I can show that I have worked in an office environment and that I can adapt to other circumstances too. For my work experience in year 11 I worked with EA Gibson shipbrokers in the specialised department where I read through charter agreements and saw how deals were arranged. Working there showed me what it was like in an office environment and I also attended a lunch with some of the clients so I received a very valuable insight to how they get new business and keep their clients happy and updated which was very valuable information and will be useful in a career of investment banking. My covering letter needed re writing too because I need to tailor it to each position I apply for and say why I think I would be good for that role, what skills I have to offer them and also why I am applying for that role. This is very important because I need to sell myself as best I can to show that I am well suited to the role and that I have a strong interest in that position and why I am attracted to
Receiving my first job was a huge milestone in life, as it is for any teen. The feeling was equivalent to learning how to tie a shoe and being picked first for kickball. It was basically a moment where I truly became aware that I was growing up, that “this was it” I was finally going to cut the ties and become my own provider. To prove myself and others, that I can handle the so called “Real World”. However, upon entering my first job, most teenagers were unaware the of the reasonability that came with it. It was pretty much treated like a last period class, “if you show up you pass” kind of deal. When in actuality, it was much more. Working as a ride operator at a local amusement park, Lake Winnie, many would assume that it would be the easiest
As long as I can remember I’ve been passionate about helping people who are in need. I
On the 25th of December 2014, in Taupo, I had volunteered to work at a homeless shelter. While I was there I had got told the procedures on what I was going to do on the job. My duties while working there was, cleaning, cooking, and serving. The idea of the homeless shelter is to meet, feed, and welcome other people that are less fortunate than us on Christmas.
Developing your ability to work with adults as part of a team is a key
Work is a means of life, it is what keeps society running across the globe . Perspectively speaking work is the sole defender of anarchy. Our lives are based off the ideology of go to school, get a job, and work hard. That sentence alone has been embedded in our brains since most could remember. In the Memoir “first job” , Iliana Roman feels that hard work, and good ethics must be embedded in our youth. If neglected to do so, it can lead to a non functional society. She of all people knows this to be true. Iliana worked her way up from the bottom. She worked long hours, attended school, and raised 3 kids. eventually leading to her owning her own company, and being her own boss.
Work experience is it of value or is it a waste of time? This is a
My first job after I graduated college I experienced an expectation testing my dedication to ethics, legality and my values. I accepted a position to create and run a college intern program and also to serve as an instructional aid in the classroom. Prepared to take on my first post graduation job I was shocked when I was informed my position would entail more than I had first agreed to. Not only would I be responsible for creating a new intern program and serving as an instructional aid but I would be expected to teach an English language development (ELD) course to seventh and eighth grades as well as a sixth grade elective. These new responsibilities were sprung on me less than two weeks before my supervisor expected me to perform them. The situation remains the same and I have taken the necessary steps to ensure confidence in my performance, I also know my students are receiving the best education that I can provide.
This Quarter has been a very interesting one. At the beginning of the quarter I was a recently graduated nurse who had just passed the NCLEX and began my first job as a nurse at a hospital who hadn’t thought too deeply about what I would be doing beyond that. Today I am a much better nurse able to perform my job better, not just from job experience, but from what I am learning in this class as well. I have learned a great deal from this course I still have more to learn from it. I still strive to learn how to be more professional and be able to have a greater impact on my patients having a positive outcome. I feel like I can achieve this by reading, assignments, and collaborating with my classmates taking lessons from their views and experience.

The first eighteen years of my life my father provided for me. Till this day my father pays my college tuition. I hardly ever worked but everybody loves making their own money. Throughout my high school years I mainly worked with my uncles. I never met the need of applying to a job, but I wanted to make money. I started off working with my uncles, but the job was not constant. The summer of my freshman year I went to the city market and worked for about a month. A year after I applied to the local McDonald 's, and lasted for about a month or two. I could never keep a steady job because I wanted to do more. Although throughout High School I occasionally worked with my uncles. Working at three jobs I 've gained knowledge about different management by a supervisor. All three had their own flaws, but one exceeding expectations.
During my thirty-six years in the work force, I have worked for many different businesses, performed a plethora of different job duties, and I have been introduced to a wide variety of different management styles from the management teams that I have worked for. Each management style was varied but the end result was the same at the end of the day, to get the job done. Through these different management styles I have been introduced to, I have developed my sense of a good personal management style. During this paper, I will look at some of the great managers and not so great managers that have helped me to develop my management style.
All college students should partake in career exploration project because it gives structure and direction. The result from an assessment identifies and prioritizes which careers will best suit an individual person or student. It does not necessarily mean they have to pick that particular job or career; it gives them more chooses to choose from. Career exploration is a life long journey that is emotionally, physically and mentally stress full. I say lifelong because as time goes on so does an individual’s views, abilities and skills. Career exploration is very helpful to a career, because it improves a person's ability to become informed of their interests, skills, values, abilities, aptitudes, weaknesses and strengths It helps in the guidance of career matters across the nation, job influence, growth, work hours opportunities to name a few. An individual needs to remember that when doing this career exploration project to keep in mind that money is only a temporary fix. In the beginning it may bring you joy and happiness but as time goes on it will not keep up personal enjoyment i...
Throughout one’s life, there are many driving forces. Some of them are based upon one’s background; others are based upon one’s desires. In the realm of Higher Education, one does not enter lightly into a position, for, if one does, it can result in a burnout. It behoves individuals to play to their strengths and fill out their weaknesses so as to be a well rounded individual who is able to deal with a variety of situations, both positive and negative, as they arise.

What a whirlwind this semester has been. It seemed like 15 weeks would be such a long time, but in actuality it was done in a blink of the eye. I have learned so much during this internship at the Renaissance Denver Downtown, and it has truly shaped the direction of my career path.
