Other healthcare professionals, patients, and family members will be looking for me to make medical decisions. There is a concern regarding people trusting and respecting my decision making skills. The fourth question addressed what is being looked forward to the most in my career as an NP. Functioning as an NP has many things to look forward to. One main thing I look forward to is having the ability to establish cliental and lasting relationships with patients. Contact with my patients currently involves only seeing them in the acute hospital. This entails on seeing them if they are readmitted to the hospital on my unit. The ability to see patients that come into the office for well checks will allow relationship to continue o be built.…show more content…
The assignment of interviewing a NP was very rewarding and afforded me an opportunity to exam goals and objectives that need to be established. During my first month as an NP it is critical be become organized. Organization is the first goal because it is a major contributor to my being successful as an NP. One of my strengths involves my ability and drive to have things organized. This strength is essential and strongly needed in my career as an NP. During the second month my goal is to continue becoming well organized and familiar with my patient load. During the third month my goal is to become familiar with the different facility polices and procedure where my patients receive care. Throughout my first year goal entails gaining the trust of physicians and other healthcare professionals. A major weakness for me involves coming out of my safety areas and trust. This new role will require me step out and obtain and give trust to other healthcare professionals. My goal and object for the first year as an NP is to implement my evidence-based knowledge in a well organized manner and provide patients with excellent medical care. It may create some feelings of uneasiness for a new NP due to it being a new role. It is very important for NPs to develop feelings of confidence and feelings of empowerment. Majority of NPs have to seek new positions outside of their current facilities. They have to obtain levels of trust in their abilities to function as an NP from physicians and other health care providers. New NPs must establish a new reputation separate from their role as a RN. This causes competition to arise among new NP graduates. The development of relationships with healthcare providers is need on a new and different level. This process should begin during their graduate NP program. The clinical skills in a NP role should be demonstrated and shown while performing the required clinical time. It is essential to have strategies in place for networking and marketing to assist with employment seeking. My networking and strategy plan will entail seeking employment opportunities posted by employers, joining networking associations, and directly approaching physicians. There are several sites on the Internet that have different positions available by several different employers. Some of these sites are Monsters, Indeed, Career Builders, or direct organizations. Also, Linkedin will allow me to post my profile. This will help identify my credentials and skills to other professionals. All NPs should join a networking
