Sundays were always the best day as a kid. No matter the time, the sun always looked as if it was evening, and ready to give a blanket of warm radiance. In my room, I had a small twelve inch television I would play video games on. My favorite video game to play was Munches Odyssey; however, it was my sisters, so I had to play when she was gone. She didn’t like my player her videos, but she was always skiing on Sundays meaning I went for the gold! I spent hours sitting in front of that television playing video games; however, some say this is was a problem.
The website aacap.org says “While some games have educational content, many of the most popular games emphasize negatives themes and promote: The killing of people or animals.” (aacap) Now

My soda machine was “EXPRESSO!” which makes you run really fast for a short amount of time. This has to be the drugs abuse they are talking about! Running like a chicken on a conveyer belt is a huge promotion of the biggest drug in the world; caffeine! There were never any cigarettes, marijuana, or any other kinds of terrible drugs. The only drug children ever saw was …show more content…
The trucks seats had white sheep skins that always attracted dirt; no matter how hard you clean the truck, there will always be dirt. On our voyage, I always looked at a button that I had no idea did. So, I asked my father what it did, to which he promptly replied “if you press that button we all blow up and shoot in the sky like a bird!” with a loud voice. I didn’t want to get shot up in the sky like a bird, so I never pressed the button.
Did you know, the website aacap.org states “Criminal behavior, disrespect for authority and the law” as a negative theme in video games? I have always found video games to be disrespecting authority in some way; however, not the law. If you play video games such as Grand Theft Auto, then you will find gameplay that includes law breaking action. Same thing goes with most street racing, action, and adventure games. There is always law breaking actions; however, how much does this affect the
Microsoft is a company that sells many things. Selling things along the lines of computers and computer software. One of their biggest selling items back in the 2000’s was the Xbox 360. As of June 2014, Microsoft sold more than 84 million Xbox 360’s. In 2014 they released an ad with Aaron Paul, an actor, to help sell their newest addition to the Xbox family, the Xbox One. This ad was aired on T.V and it is now on YouTube as well. In the ad, Aaron Paul shows off the new features and plays a game on it for a bit and then gets a phone call which makes him have to stop playing. Microsoft then promotes the Xbox One and shows the cost of the Xbox One and the commercial ends. The ad, overall, tries to persuade the viewers into buying an Xbox One
But the question is why? While some people believe that video games are just good clean fun, others believe that these games greatly affect our generation in a negative way, increasing aggression and sometimes pushing consumers to the edge causing events like the forever notorious shootings in Virginia Tec.
According to a research done by the New York University, educational videogames can motivate students and it “may yield learning benefits”. Another research done by the Texas A&M International University says that Violent video games helps to relieve stress. It can be true, but it also influences kids negatively. Violent games usually contain explicit language. Kids may learn from the game. They may imitate what they see or hear on the video game. For kids who are learning new language for example, violent games are not a good thing for them. They start learning bad words, slangs and it may affect their learning
.... By watching violent video games kids can become a killer and etc. all games aren’t good for kids too play because of all of the violence kids bring guns to school thinking its ok.
“We are no longer worried that children are missing school because of video games, though. We are worried that they are murdering their classmates because of video games.”-(Tom Bissell). Video games are teaching kids about violence and other things. Many video games teach kids how to kill other people even if it is animated especially in "M" rated games. Video games are bad for little children.
For some people sports is just a game, to athletes it is their life. According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) an athlete can only participate in their own school’s sports or club sports (OHSAA). This means at New Knoxville Local School, my school, my brother or any other athlete won’t be able to play football while attending school at New Knoxville. My intention is to make it possible to go to school at one place, but play sports at another school.
A teenaged boy returns from school, digs out his phone from layers of dirty clothes, and starts playing Pokemon Go. A tall, thin woman walks in. First, her eyes widen in surprise. Then, her brow furrows and her fists clench.
There are many people who say that videogames and TV will rot your brain and cause brain damage. Plenty of research and articles are against children playing video games, but there are some that are in favor of video games, and that number is growing every day. Video games can have some medicinal uses from helping patients in physical therapy to improving ones vison. Many people do not see these uses and for every one for video games there are five who are against it, however as that number is slowly growing.
High school education is for students to learn the basic information that is needed to prepare them for college. It is critical for students to feel that it isn’t a waste of time for them to wake up and go to high school everyday. Is it right for students to not come to school because they feel high school is a waste of their time? Majority of students has also felt that the courses they are attending aren’t giving them enough information that will be useful beyond high school. Shouldn’t students be in classes that will benefit them in the future? Should students be able to know what might be their strengths, and weaknesses in the courses that are required to be taken for a certain major? High schools should offer useful courses because it
Since women are naturally maternal and nurturing they obtained the role as the family’s primary caretaker, while the men became the providers for the home. For centuries these gender roles were strictly stuck too. Women stayed at home and did house work as their husbands went out and had a career. Thankfully, society is starting to shed this ideology on gender roles. More women are starting to work proactively in the “mans world”, but they are straining to advance to high executive positions throughout corporate companies. A lot of this is due to a women’s fertility. While the stereotype of women being strictly housewives has diminished, the mentality that women are too maternal is prevalent in business life. Due to this outlook women are perceived to be unable to take on the stressful pressures business prevails, giving reason to why for years women were only secretaries and clerks in business where they received little room for progression in their careers. A great deal of reasoning behind this struggle is due to the Great Man Theory. Author of “Inequality Between Genders in the Executive Suite in Corporate America: Moral and Ethical Issues” Dean Elmuti, describes this theory as society’s perception that men are the superior beings and should be the protectors and providers, while women are weak, helpless and should stay home to raise the family (1). Consequently, this view has led to an increased emergence of men as business managers and the leaders of the country, thus defending the male dominance in the corporate industry, but also preserving the discrimination against women entering the business domain. This theory and mentality that women can’t handle business life is infuriating. However, what is more distressing is due to...
Since the Early 70’s video games have been giving a bad name. Parents state that video games rot the minds of children and are influencing them do be violent. These accusations are far from the truth. In my research I found that there are many positive effects of gaming. Some of these effects are increased skills, creativity, general knowledge, and also help those in need. Parents can also take proper precautions and look into a game before buying it to see if it meets the criteria discussed in this paper.
Nowadays, video games are frequently accused of having detrimental effects on children and adolescents. The main arguments against video games are that they lead to addiction, that they provoke violence, and that they impair social development. Whether or not such claims are true has not been determined with certainty as scientific studies have produced contradictory results. Nevertheless, video games also have beneficial effects, which tend to be underrated, as they do not receive the same level of media coverage that adverse ones do, and are thus unknown to the general public. Some of the positive effects of playing video games on mental development include: stimulating analytical thinking, improving concentration, and encouraging planning and anticipation (“Video game controversies”).
Violent video games have become more realistic every year. Children spend about 40 hours seated in front of a screen killing cartoon characters. It has been debated whether minors under the age of 18 should play violent video games that contain physical harm, killing, and sexual assault. In the contrary, people say video games increases the capacity of learning of children, but violent video games cause great damages. Although there are an increase learning skills playing video games, violent video games should be prohibited to minors because it changes an individual behavior, physical, and brain.
Gambling involves taking a risk. It’s something that gets our adrenaline pumping. Believe it or not, money is one of the major things that makes the world go round and some of those believe that money does indeed buy happiness in our lives. We all have heard the stories of those who have won thousands to even millions of dollars just by gambling and we instantly think that could be us. If some random person can be that one in a million, surely I can be too, right? Even though gambling is a fun thing to do, it is important to be aware of the kinds of gamblers that exist in today’s society and realize that gambling should be played in moderation. For instance, some variations of players include: The Social Gambler, The Professional Gambler, and
Majority of games are not designed for educational purposes. However, there are some games that are made for educational to teach ethical/political issues to teenagers through a familiar medium. Teenagers also have to know when to play game and when to stop. It is a wrong time to play games if a teenager hasn’t done his/her homework. And this will result in parents asking their son/daughter to study. There’s no problem of talking about the game with friends. However, there are some people who cannot come out from the “game world” because they are not attached to the real world and ending up killing two policeman in the real world like the incident in Alabama, US in 2003.
