My Academic Journey

Not everyone who attends college takes advantage of the scholastic opportunities available as students. One reason might be because they have not yet aquired the academic confidence or perceive education as a priority. Looking back at my adolescence, both of these perspectives were displayed through my behavior. Nonetheless, the past eight years of my life illustrate major growth and development as an individual, a family member, a co-worker, and a student—a journey which led me to this moment. Literally, this very moment! I now possess the academic confidence to present an analysis of my life's history and academic objectives to a committee of scholars/professionals, which is unquestionably a significant achievement. Thus, becoming better acquainted with my life's history, as a child, teenager, military service member and scholar, will allow each of you to understand the challenges and achievements that I have experienced in order to reach this point in my life.
When looking back at my youth, the probability of me making it to this moment would seem highly unlikely. Being born into a dysfunctional relationship—between my mother and father—initially shaped my communication behaviors throughout my childhood and into my adolescence. During the early stages of my life, I struggled with communication and reading comprehension, which made certain aspects of school enormously challenging for me. On the other hand, I was deemed to be exceptional in mathematics and writing. My educational struggles made it difficult for me to develop academic confidence during my youth. For that reason, schooling during my childhood felt more like a burden than an educational journey.

Additionally, I attempt to devote time and energy towards the technology club by sharing with others the computer security, networking, and programming knowledge I have gained thus far. I have also recently assumed an Officer role in the Tech Club, as a Project Coordinator, which is a step toward helping the club grow.
Looking back through my life's history, each of you can see my transformation from a troubled youth to a proactive scholar—a scholar who will continue to demonstrate a high level of motivation, dedication, and committement towards all anticipated education and career objectives. If I am awarded a scholarship, I will continue my stride towards completing my short-term and long-term educational goals, which will also assist me with making my career vision, as a cyber security specialist, become more than just imagery.
