My abilities at the beginning of the semester were very simple, that were based on the material that I have taken in the bridge program and writing 101. They were mainly about the skills on how to start an academic essay. One of the challenges that I faced at the beginning of the semester was the fact that last essay I wrote was a year ago (fall 2015). Another issue was when I faced an argumentative essay I realized that my brainstorming were good, but I lacked in delivering it to build up my draft. To illustrate, choosing the topic (postmodern architecture) was not a problem, however, due to the fact that the topic was too narrow and I didn’t have enough background about it. One of the things that were really helpful was seeking help from my professor during class time and office hours. Another useful thing was the opposing view website, in providing me some pother views of my topic that I can search for. For example, I had some so difficulties with the effect that postmodern architecture has on society, but when I looked it up on the opposing view website, they provide me with articles that talk about how architecture can save the heritage, then I linked it with the concept of postmodern architecture as having the traditional element and I end up with the second effect on society. “It would benefit the society by conserving their heritage” (Taifour, 2016, p.6). Writing essays was never my forte, it just never came easy to me like it would to others. Since other subjects came easy to me and I had to focus more than others on writing, I had a negative attitude toward the process as a whole. During this summer semester, I was able to grow as a writer, and gain a more positive attitude toward how I write and a better feel for writing in college. Writing a paper is a process in which there are many different stages. In high school I would never write outlines or any sort of pre planning work. Other struggles I encountered in my writing were my theses, and framing quotes.
In the introduction, the author has done a good job engaging the audience with emotions, and painting a vivid scene of the seals being slaughtered. This essay does a good job of acknowledging the other point of views. This essay also has a good, clear sense of structure. The author has a strong thesis statement, that gave a clear indication of what the following paragraphs are about.

As a strong math, science and engineering student, writing has not come easy to me and by taking this class, I was hoping to become a stronger writer. Throughout the semester, organizing ideas in logical ways has become straight forward thanks to the peer discussions and review I have had. Before this class, I struggled to transition between ideas and discuss each idea in a logical sequence and, unfortunately, my language arts and history grades suffered as a result. Weak skills that I began the class with have become strong and my strong skills have become stronger. Having the opportunity to write a variety of different essay styles has challenged me greatly to improve my writing techniques. Each essay I was required to write brought its own struggles for me. I had to draw on the information that was presented through the class as well as look to the textbook for guidance. To ensure I did well on each essay I thought about my topic, researched the topic, then began to outline what I wanted to write about. Finally, I would write the essay and submit a rough draft. English 102 has given me the skills and training I need to move on to other classes next semester that will require writing essays. I now have a confidence in my writing abilities that this class has given
I think the problem with contemporary architecture is that it is superficial and it lacks depth and meaning. I feel that most architects today design more for the edgy factor and care more about designing aesthetically pleasing buildings instead of for the comfort and needs of people. Certain designs lack growth and the ability to survive throughout the years. I also feel that some designs are absent in their connection to culture, nature and context and when these connections are absent the building we are designing is essentially just another shell.

Throughout my whole educational career I have always struggled in writing. In 2nd grade I had to stay at after school for writing tutorials to improve on spelling, in 4th grade I never went to recess because I was unable to finish my writing prompts in during the dedicated timeline, and throughout high school I would have panic attacks when trying to write essay. Finally, during my junior year of high school I discovered I have dyslexia. Since then I’ve found different strategies when it comes to writing my essays to reduce the anxiety it gives me. Over the past semester, I have found the most challenging part of this course to simply be the transition from high school composition classes to college. Because writing expectations are so different in college than in high school, even with AP and Dual Enrollment “college level” classes, I first found myself being overwhelmed with the pressure to write the perfect first draft. The pressure came from knowing how much a final draft of a paper contributed to my grade. This left me sitting in front of my computer for hours at a time with thoughts of what I wanted to say racing through my head, but unable to deliver these thoughts into organized, structured sentences. I learned, through writing my persuasive essay, that instead of trying to write the paper start to finish and already in its perfect form, it is easier for me to look at the paper through its different components and focus on them individually, then work to best organize my ideas fluently.
This what I did this semester I chose a topic initially and planned to do a qualitative study, however, before deciding on my topic I did make sure that I have a plan B and that there is enough literature to switch the question without chaining the focus of my topic. Moreover, working on my capstone topic I had to go through an extensive amount of literature whether I have used in my paper or not and that helped to learn how to speed up the reading process by skimming as much of the literature that I can to find the information that is related to my topic. During the course of this semester; the variety of writing styles and essays assigned to me in my communication skills class encouraged the development of my writing skills, as well as provided me with more self-assurance in my abilities. My writing, research, and presentation abilities enhanced through practice, determination, and the understanding I gained during this course. With every single writing assignment, I learned new innovative approaches and skills, which enhanced my abilities to improve my thoughts logically, enabling me to write more clearly, and to organize my papers more effectively. At the beginning of this semester; despite the fact that I already knew the terminology MAP: message, audience, purpose; I never really understood the significance of MAP. For this reason, my writing lacked clarity, organization, and my writings appeared less focused on the topics. As a result my research papers and essays did not flow as smoothly from one passage to the next. Furthermore, I was unaccustomed with the precise procedures used when writing an essay. For instance, my previous classes before college, although requiring a reference page, did not require me to include proper citations in my writings. After evaluating the quality of my writing toward the end of the semester, I recognized vast improvements in several areas of my writing. By concentrating on the beginning stages of my writings, I could distinguish ahead of time my audience and my message. As a result, my essays are clear, and I remain on topic. In addition to that using transition phrases efficiently also helps my writing to flow smoothly. The proper use of transitions makes my writings easy to follow from one topic to the next. Interior design is a complicated profession. It is sometimes referred to as interior architecture and often confused with interior decorating. It involves the design, organization and planning of an interior structure rather than just refinishing and furnishing existing interior spaces. It involves managing a business, hopefully meeting the desires of the client and delivering to them an interior environment that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. There is a lot more to interior design than first meets the eye.
Postmodernism is a style of art that first became popular in the late 20th century. When seeing the word postmodernism, it might have to do with any one medium of art-- literature, philosophy, history, economics, architecture, fiction, and literary criticism. Lyotard, a founder of postmodernism in philosophy, is quoted as saying, “Simplifying to the extreme, I define the postmodern as incredulity toward metanarratives.” By saying this, Lyotard simply meant that, as a postmodernist, he was against the ways of thinking of modernists and wanted to see something new philosophically and artistically. Postmodernity demonstrates a departure from the art style modernism.
In the last decade the residential architecture scene has been a booming industry and it's not slowing down. As far as finding a career in this field I think it is an excellent choice for many reasons.
