Everyday we are encountered with music. In television shows, movies and all other sorts of entertainment. From the typical McDonald's jingles, to those famous Star Wars overtures. All these small musical embellishments within media appear to be so inconsequential, yet they have presented such a huge impact into our society. Without these jingles in these films or advertisements, it wouldn’t seem like a McDonald’s commercial or Star Wars movie at all. I have only come to acquire these observations through my discovery through personal development with the violin. The moment I discovered my love for the violin was through auditioning for the Maryland Classical Youth Orchestra of Strathmore. Over the summer of the fourth grade, my private teacher introduced me to this renowned organization of musical performance. With all this rehearsal time to sharpen my violin skills, I had finally felt ready for the audition. Before I knew it, I was taken down to Strathmore for the audition. I approached the vast music hall accompanied by my mother. Once we reached the audition room, my mother gave me a reassuring smile and I walked towards the audition room alone. The conductor, was a tall man with milky dark eyes. He motioned for me to begin whenever I wanted to. I swallowed my nervousness as I thought to myself, Today is the day to be confident. Today is the day to be courageous. Today is the day to succeed. My bow touched the strings and it almost seemed to me that the music was spilling out from the violin by itself. I looked up again and I was finished with my piece. The conductor stretched his hand towards me and gave a defiant and reassuring shake. I felt very comforted and walked out of the room with hope of gaining admission to the prestigious Maryland Classical Youth
