Singapore,renowned as a strong multi-racial country in the world, utilises the policy of multiracialism as one of many survivalist approaches for the continuity of her independence.(NUS : Faculty of Science, 2015)Consisting of four races - Chinese,Malays,Indians and Others, they make up 74.3%, 13.3%, 9.1% and 3.3% of Singapore’s population respectively.(Ministry Of Health Singapore, 2015) Inarguably,multiracialism is one of the very integral fact to our diversity and success.However,having greatly liberalised her borders in the past few years and the influx of foreigners,social issues such as Xenophobia,insensitivity towards foreigners,increased competition for employment,identity crisis raised to be problems that the Singapore government …show more content…

It is quintessential and very fitting to have people from different backgrounds,religions and races cooperating with each other. It is a norm for Singaporeans to have thoughts of races in a day to day basis because of our identities and education system being racialized.

In a recent study,despite being ranked in the world as one of the lowest taxes rates,many Singaporeans’ life satisfaction was of lower rung than in other developed countries.(AsiaOne, 2013).Zhili,a town in Zhejiang,China, uses a progressive tax system where taxes are of higher rates for migrant businesses than for local ones triggered a riot in 2011. Hundreds of angry migrants clashed with the township government offices after a migrant business owner refused to pay his taxes and instead,gathered group to turn on the tax collectors.It succumbed to more than 10 people
