Graphic design today is a combination of the historical skills of illustrators and printers. It combines typography, illustration, photography and, now, digital media to visually communicate a message. Originally it was the domain of the printers. The printers would arrange text and woodblock images in the letterpress. The printers were also the ones who usually designed the typefaces. The work of illustrators was engraved on woodblocks; often by a trained engraver rather than the illustrator. However, it was the printer who developed the finished look of the publication. The advent of the industrial revolution created niches in the printers’ world that were filled with artists, photographers and other tradesmen.

First of all e-commerce is an area of marketing that uses networks to buy, sell and service a business 's products and services. Some pros e-commerce offers overall is that is can reach a wide variety of customers all over the world rather than just the ones in our area. Customers often impulse buy when online shopping which is a bonus for us when it comes to the online business. It is also easier to keep track of competitors and price changes since the competitors website is easily accessible. It’s also a great way to highlight major sales and make them more public than one would be able to just promoting it in a store. For example using social media and the website we can easily get the word out about special deals like buy one get one free drinks. Some cons; however, is that it takes away from interaction with customers. Customer interaction and good customer service is a key point in keeping our customers coming back to Not Your Average Ice Cream Shop so not having that connection could possibly hurt us in the long run. Also a website can’t always be reliable since there is always a possibility of servers crashing or a customer not having access to the internet at all. Lastly, you can risk losing company information to scanners which can cause your

Getting paid depends on the months, days, weeks, or years that you work. Both jobs don’t get paid the same, because there are different things being used by both jobs. Graphic designers and artists are the same in some ways, but they are also very different from each other. Artists usually use paint sets and graphic designers use technology. But in some cases, artists use technology too. It only reflects and depends on what the person uses for their job. Graphic designers are the same way, but also use more advertisements than artists do.

Currently I am enrolled at the University of Nebraska as a bachelor of fine arts with an emphasis on graphic design. One of the greatest and most overlooked tasks of a graphic design professional is dealing with the customer. Not a lot of graphic design students think about that, so thinking this would give me an upper hand; so, I enrolled in a business communications class. My current written communication skills are lacking to non-existent. My English grammar is terrible, before this class I would be hard-pressed without the Internet to tell you what an adjective, conjunction, or even a pronoun was. It was not for lack of teach-ability but more a lack of someone sitting down and helping me to understand what my mind could not comprehend.
Billions of working adults hold positions in order to maintain a source of income for themselves and their families. These adults can fit their jobs into certain categories, such as medical, legal, or labor, and yet there are still many professions that fit into a different type of category: Fine Arts. Fine Arts is an unique category in which two special occupations fall into: a fashion designer and an interior designer.

As a Graphic Design major I will admit that at first I did not think a drawing class was something necessary to create a successful foundation towards a design career. Now looking back I can realize just how inaccurate my thoughts were, drawing is not only valuable but also fundamental to creating a lucrative path as a graphic designer. As someone who 9 times out of 10 will stick to creating a work of art on the computer, putting pen to paper was something very new and intimidating to me. As class progressed I became more comfortable and began to develop many crucial skills that have already began to help me in my graphic design projects, such as understanding forms and space, the understanding of gesture drawing, and the creation of texture, shadows, and 3D objects. Overall, I think all the skills I have learned in drawing 100 will forever be applicable to my future career as a graphic designer.
