In taking the Multicultural Quiz, it really opened my eyes to how non-multicultural I really am. My overall score was a thirty-seven, which means that I was raised around people who were much like myself (to an extent). The neighborhood for example that I have lived in my whole life is for the most part a white community, middle class I would say, probably mostly religious Christians. I fit into all but one of those categories: religion. Being Atheist, one could argue that perhaps I was different than others in the community—I just simply had never gone to church growing up. There were poor kids, middle classed like myself, even rich kids. We had the Christian kids, the Jewish kids and even atheists like myself in my schools. My education one could say was fairly multicultural. I never belonged to any clubs or sports teams of which I can rate myself on as this quiz asks, but what I saw was a non-diverse grouping of those that did play sports or be part of a club—typically white females were cheerleaders, white males were typically the football players, your white Christian kids/middle to upper class kids were the student council, your Indian kids were basketball players, …show more content…

I relate this to how really anyone, including myself, grows up in terms of how they socialize with members of another class or another race. My parents tended to associate with white, middle-classed individuals that often never went to church just like we never went to church—mimicking that behavior, it is no wonder why I associated with those similar to me instead of those that fall into another set of group(s).
