The last Prophet and founder of Islam, Muhammad, was one of the most influential leaders that ever lived. When, his mother was sixth months pregnant on him, Abdullah, his father passed away in a caravan trip between Medina and Mecca to illness. Amina, his mother hated him because she accused Muhammad of bringing bad luck which caused his father’s dead. Once he was born she would gave him to a Bedouin woman named Haleema. As the Arabian tradition, Haleema took Muhammad with her to live in the desert because it was considered healthier for infants. However, after couple of years she would return Muhammad back to his mother Amina; when Muhammad turned sixth she also passed away because of illness. It was then when he became an orphan, but then he was brought up for two years under the guardianship of his grandfather Abdul Muttalib.
At age of eight his grandfather also passed away; then he lived with his uncle Abu Talib, the leader of a clan called Bani Hashim. Around this time his clan was running out of their fortunes so, Muhammad spends most of his time without eating. Although, everything that was happening in his life he still managed to accompany his uncle on trading journeys to Syria gaining experience in the commercial trade, the only career open to Muhammad as an orphan. However, later he became a merchant and was involved in trading between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. ... there. Emerging as a legend from ordinary background is not easy, but those who follow the right way can easy get there. He is a legend for many reasons; one of which is that millions of people takes his name every minute although he passed away over many centuries ago. Muhammad is the supreme example of a family man, loving husband, an affectionate father and doting grandfather. He also was a perfect example of an ordinary person that emerged to a legend over period of time and struggle.

In the late 1980’s Muhammad changed his life around. He and his wife had separated, he converted to Islam, and he joined the U.S. Army (Biography, par 4). He later changed his name to Muhammad (Death, par 2). He was stationed in Washington State. There he married Mildred Green. They ended up having three children. Being in the army was good for Muhammad. He served in Germany and the Middle East and was skilled in marksman (Biography, par 4, 5).
Writing about a topic that has been on an upward slope of controversy and criticism within the past two decades, Fred Donner a notable Islamic History professor at the University of Chicago whom has written multiple texts about the origins of Islam, tells the tale of the beginnings of Islam and how it would be shaped into its current manifestation today with Muhammad and the Believers. Osama bin Laden was perceived to be a brave, intelligent, and independent man who always held a high standard for himself and the Muslim world. He was driven by the term jihad, which means “holy war”. People viewed him as a genuine professional that embraced all aspects of his culture. The Christian West is considered Islam’s main enemy due to the perceived belief that they oppose Muslims and their culture. Muslims believe that the Israelis are trying to oppress them by claiming their rightful land, Palestine. This did not settle well with Osama and he would not stand to not do anything about it. As years went on, every decision he made was based off of his life and faith. Through radicalization, exile from homeland, and anti-western sentiments, Osama bin Laden built the terrorist organization known as Al- Qaeda.
Because her husband had died, Muhammad's mother took her baby and went to live with her family. They were together for six years until she got a high fever and died. Then Muhammad went to live with his grandfather, Abdul Al-Muttalib, in Mecca. His grandfather’s family was part of the Quraysh tribe, the most powerful tribe in Mecca. Mecca was Arabia's most important pilgrimage center and Abdul Al-Muttalib its most respected leader. He controlled important pilgrimage concessions and frequently presided over Mecca's Council of Elders. This tribe controlled the main place of worship for all of Arabia, a temple filled with idols known as Al-Ka'ba. Muhammad's grandfather had the honor of serving as the caretaker for Al-Ka'ba. He was in charge of repairs and cleaning.
Ali is an influential tragic hero for excelling in skill, strength, and courage just like how Odysseus used strength to free his men from the Lotus Eaters. Mohammed’s life, ministry and death started when the Prophet of Islam was born in the year 570 B.C. Born into an affluent family he would lose both of his parents by the age of six. Mohammed became a camel driver traveling between Syria and Arabia, later he would become a caravan manager for wealthy merchants, which lead him to meet his wife Khadija, 15 years his senior, and she was his only wife until her death 24 years later.
Elijah Muhammad, son of a sharecropper, was born into poverty in Sandersville, Georgia, on October 7, 1897 (biography.com). After moving to Detroit in 1923, he met W. D. Fard, founder of the black separatist movement Nation of Islam (biography.com). Muhammad became Fard’s successor from 1934-75 and was known for his controversial preaching (biography.com). Muhammad faced many challenges during his life span. He declared that Fard had been an incarnation of Allah and that he himself was now Allah’s messenger (biography.com). For forty-one year’s Muhammad spread the word of the Nation of Islam, slowly but steadily attracting new members (biography.com). Muhammad built the religion from a small fringe group into a large and complex organization that attracted controversy along with its new prominence (biography.com).

After ‘The Year of Sorrow’ in which both Muhammad’s uncle- Abu Talib and wife- Kadijah died Muhammad is warned by the angel Gabriel that the situation is getting too dangerous for him in Mecca. “Muhammad knew the faith must find expression in a community which would insure its external force and the opportunity to prevail against opposition” (Cragg). It is at this point that Muhammad is invited to become a leader in Medina (622ce).
The book Muhammad, by Michael Cook, describes the impact Muhammad has had on the world as we know it. It explains why Muhammad chose the paths he did, and how certain laws came about. Cook offers a very objective view of the laws and policies Muhammad outlined in the Koran, and the traditions that are carried on that supplement his written law.
