The American Educational System is not what it used to be. Many people fear the falling standards of the United States’ public school system. What with the harsh social environment, the controversial curriculum, the overpaid, corrupt teachers with their own agenda, and the exposure to horrifying new ideas and ways of thinking; Or at least this is what the paranoid parents of the United States have led themselves to believe. Anything looks bad when you look at it in such harsh light. Granted, there are a few (or several ) flaws in the Public Educational System but rather than make an attempt to help fix these problems, parents take it upon themselves to educate their own children and “fix” them. This alternative form of education known as Home School gives parents the opportunity to teach their children as they see fit. However, this method of schooling can prove to be more harmful to the child rather than helpful.
A parent is not only the loving mother who holds you close to her for nine months and then many years, or the dad who plays baseball with you and intimidates his daughter’s dates. It is someone who is there for you from the start, guiding you to the right path of knowledge and teaching you how to stay on the right path independently. A parent does not need to have any biological associations to the child in order to be a parent to them. A parent must have certain characteristics to be rightfully called a parent. For many years psychologists have defined ways to correctly support a child to adulthood for parents all over the world. Some people conclude their practice of parenting their children after the child reaches the age of 18, and some have the duty as a lifelong job. As years pass so do generations and media changes very constantly and plays a factor in how children act and respond to certain stimuli. There was a study done in 2009 and people in Poughkeepsie had answered a poll that revealed overall every age group finds it harder to raise a child in today’s day and age than it had been in previous generations, but the older the parent is, the longer the generation gap would be and that factors in the difficulty of understanding how media works with a child’s psychological set up. What a child watches on a television screen is what the child will imitate through behavior. However, parenting is not a book written by a doctor, parenting is having a family, and creating memories, also ensuring that your children live in a nourishing environment for their emotional, mental, and physical health. At this time youth is not on any medication. It was reported that Cyanna experience frequent physical and emotional abuse from biological mother towards youth and her siblings. Cyanna also experience frequent transitions during the 18 month period when she was in her mother’s care that resulted in four relocations and schools. Mrs. Hannah reports that Cyanna often present as sad and struggles with managing her anger and appropriately communicating her feelings. Youth express that her anger stems from her relationship with her mother. Cyanna does not speak to biological mother often and she reports that her mother does not understand her which causes conflict in their relationship. Cyanna has a good relationship with her father and stepmother. Mrs. Hannah is supportive of youth and wants her to be more self-confident. At this time Cyanna is open to participating in in-home services. Supportive Therapeutic Services will provide Cyanna with 2 hours of IIC services once a week. IIC services will assist Cyanna with building self-confidence, process past traumatic events, enhance coping skills and communication with her
Would you have come out different if your parents used a different parenting style? If you are considered “cool” now could you have come out a nerd if your parents would have used a different parenting style? “Parenting style is one of the primary determinants of your child’s outcome whether he succeeds, achieves, meets the challenges, flounders, gives up, or runs from or fails in handling life.” (6) The purpose of this paper is to describe the outcomes, processes, labor, and techniques of parenting in a psychological point of view. Parenting styles are defined as the “manner in which parents express their beliefs on how to be a good or bad parent.” (4) Each parenting style has its weaknesses and strengths. All parents incorporate love and limit in their style of parenting. There are four different types of parenting styles: authoritarian, permissive, democratic, and uninvolved parents.
One major reason family support is recognized is for the numerous and effective support it provides to individual and their families. Also, it contributes to the development and well-being of children, their parents and/or caregivers and the general community. Family support has grown from an individual perspective to family perspectives in providing services. The FRP provided twelve guidelines for providing accurate and effective services to clients and their families that will encourage inclusiveness in all areas. These guiding principles are recognized and practice daily in the programs provided by the Jane and Finch community and family center.
Only a few parents realize that the home is the best training center for the children. Many times it was heard that some parents said that they have no time to be with their children. They cannot spare their time to give to the training of their children, while they used to spend their whole time for other business. Regarding this a Christian mother gives counsels to the parents.
I began this program during the spring semester of 2014 at which time I enrolled in the working with family’s course. At that point, it then becomes the nurse’s responsibility to recognize the impairment, put interventions into place, and evaluate the family before discharge. For successful childrearing, parents need knowledge about raising children. Parenting classes and health-care professionals working with parents can contribute to raising children (Campbell,1992).
