In Tom Shadyac’s movie, I Am, two general themes are portrayed again and again. That is what is wrong with the world and that and that cooperation is the key to success in our society. We all must learn to coexist or our society will fail and die off. The order of the universe has always been random and a chaotic mess from the moment the Big Bang started. Only in the last few hundred years has the human race learned how to coexist and thrive. It has no longer been a battle of the fittest but a cooperative effort to race to the finish. As Shadyac points out, the world faces so many issues but is also connected in many ways and could use this to help minimize our growing issues at hand. The human races would understand the principles of coexistence …show more content…
It was quickly corrupted by the greed of one greatest hunters, who took too much meat for himself and began to store it away from the others. Once the other tribe members took notice of that, the other great hunters started to mimic his actions. After the greed started to take over the tribe, some members had more than what they needed and some had hardly anything. The old and young started to die off very quickly. Soon chaos ensued around the entire tribe about how much they should each get, instead of equally splitting the bounty between all of the …show more content…
Our actions leave impressions on other people’s lives every day. If we could all work together we could knock out many problems that plague impoverished countries every day; like famine and war. When we do not interact in a positive loving way chaos, fighting, and war breaks out. If the human race as a whole does not learn how to cooperate and take only as much as we need, our lives as we know them could fall apart. We see it constantly repeated in early civilization what happens when a society takes too much; they all crumble as a result of greed and
Human beings can be unpleasant, selfish and inconsiderate in their treatment of other people. Also, the manifestations of human aggression and egocentric attitude together with the mass destruction effected by War propelled Sigmund Freud to believe that people are aggressive by nature ( ). Humans habitually act to benefit other people in an act exemplified as prosocial behavior. Behaviors such as sharing personal resources, helping someone in need, volunteering time, effort, expertise and cooperating with others in an attempt to achieve a common goal ( ). Although people are often in need of help and act of kindness from another human being, however, the decision to help someone in need of aid is not a simple or straightforward decision as it might seem. Various
The boundaries set by our society has hinder human nature which is thought by many to be animalistic and dark implicating that a powerful motivating factor of human nature is to seek gratification and evade misery. Therefore without all the boundaries and rules that society has placed on us, we would pursue whatever our hearts craved and ignore others and the repercussions that are actions have on other individuals.
...esult, the more directly one sees their personal efforts impact someone else, the more happiness one can gain from the experience of giving. Sometimes generosity requires pushing past a feeling of reluctance because people all instinctively want to keep good things for themselves, but once one is over this feeling, they will feel satisfaction in knowing that they have made a difference in someone else’s life. However, if one lives without generosity but is not selfish, they can still have pleasure from other virtues.
As a human in this world, we cannot deny that we cannot live without others people’s help. Even if we have lot of capabilities, we still need other peers to live each other despite there are some positives or negatives that come to us. In order to make sure that continue as clearly as possible, we have to know there are some guidelines and rules which human should to know and act based on that particular laws. These guidelines explain to us as an action that we should adopt it to live with everyone in our daily lives.
As we know, the world is no longer the best, safest or kindest place to live in, but it is up to us to make it paradise again. To achieve that, we all need to be friends, and communicate with each other. As the late John Lennon sang about in “Imagine” or the late Freddie Mercury in “The Miracle” the time will come when the world would live as one and we could all be friends.
must do so without a selfish mentality, do not do to help or to help with only you, must be done in order to help humanity, to help improve yourself, not only to gain an effect on you,
It is no longer a question of if we can work together, it’s a question of do we want to. The world as a whole has advanced far beyond the goals of any man or woman, yet we continue to allow personal prejudices to cripple us, and bar us from advancing as a whole race.
My original conception of human nature is that man is originally born immoral and self-interested. In spite of this, man is also rational and through life's experience realizes the need to work along with their fellow man in order to progress. I believe that humankind is motivated by egoism and greed, but has the potential to become virtuous through learned behavior. In order to achieve a large amount of what will be fulfilling to the person's needs, they will want to establish relationships with others. By working together, each person is receiving what it is that they need or want. The exchange within that social setting then becomes beneficial to each participating member. By working along with others, progress is also achieved faster and more efficiently. People tend to behave moral and civil while congregating with their peers in order to appeal to others. People realize that by not expressing their direct selfish intentions but rather a polite demeanor people will be more welcoming to t...
Individualism is rampant in our world. More and more people are concerned with what they want, when they want it and how they want it. They put blinders on and go about their work, convinced that “looking out for number one” is the only way to succeed and find happiness. If everyone were to adopt this way of thinking and living, the world would become violently competitive, gloomy, and callous. However, if we open our lives and give service to those less fortunate than ourselves, we allow our hearts to receive immeasurable happiness. There are countless members of society, who make service and ultimately self-sacrifice a part of their everyday lives. One of the greatest examples the world has of a self-sacrificing person is Mother Teresa. She said, “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love… It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters.” Doctors Without Borders is a powerful humanitarian organization that was most recently volunteering in Haiti. Part of their mission statement reads, “…We unite direct medical care with a commitment to bearing witness and speaking out against the underlying causes of suffering. Our aid workers and staff protest violations of humanitarian law on behalf of populations who have no voice, and bring the concerns of their patients to public forums…” These are just two mainstream examples of people and organizations that live and work for others, to improve the quality of their lives.
We all live in the one society. Nobody can exist alone, and everything we do will directly or indirectly affect each other. From this point of view, transposition thinking and personal consideration for others contribute to the harmonious coexistence between people.
For instance, it was an extremely sunny day in Ghana, West Africa, and I had gone out to the well to fetch water. It was while carrying the bucket of water on my way back that I noticed my neighbor’s children fighting over the insufficient amount of food that they had to share. My family and I were not rich but from what I saw, I knew that we were better off than other people I knew. I carried the bucket of water inside the house and came back outside to call the two youngest children that were fighting over the last grain of food. I shared my food my food with them and though it was not sufficient for all, feeding the younger ones alone was better than not helping any one of them at all. There was only little that I could possibly do but by sharing, I had helped them in a great way, even if it was just for the time being.
In the end, countries that cooperate and do not discriminate against each other will help themselves and the world flourish. If these developed countries continue to prejudge underdeveloped countries by wealth or other conditions, when people are faced with serious problems in society, these problems become global. By helping each other, all countries offer hope and compassion, and share new knowledge with each other. Therefore, people all over the world would suffer less, because they know they are not alone.
All around us people are cruel and rude, this can harm someone else's life, just as it made life for John Nash more difficult. This difficulty can limit our ability to try and determine our future. As shown, the ability to show kindness can help others determine their future as they are not being put down. Constant negativity can damper the livelihood, which damages our ability to put our best out into the world and fulfil our man made
Well in my belief if it wasn’t for all the people who have cared for others our human survival would become extinct. We are human because we have the ability to think. The ability to think gives us the opportunity to reason and realize what is going on. "Thinking is skilled work. It is not true that we are naturally endowed with the ability to think clearly and logically - without learning how, or without practicing." Alfred Mander, Author Logic for the Millions, 1947. This quote made me realize that sometimes we think we think, but it is not true. For example when I was younger and I was asked what I thought about drugs I just remembered what my mom told me and what my friends new about drugs being bad, but I never researched what drugs were and I always said I thought drugs were bad. To think is to go beyond what people tell us, to ask questions and go beyond what we are told and understand. That is what makes us humans because an animal can react and do what people tell them, but do they ask questions to what they are
At the past, people were well known with the togetherness and respect each other. The relationship between the people was quite closed. To illustrate this point, they used to help each other, for example when their neighborhoods need a hand to clean or built a house. They gave a hand, without expecting a bonus or money but when the other neighborhoods ask for help, they will come to assist them. It shows how harmony was their life able to help each other. Even though the social live was great but the economy situation of our parents’ generation was demanding. The prize of the utilities was uneconomical, which is for many people it was too expensive. For example, the cost of motorbike or bicycle was really expensive. It is because there are not many companies, which produce those items. Lacks of competitors make the company set out a high prize. That is why few of people can buy of those stuffs. In contras, our present generations are obviously; live more individual and careless to the situations around us. Many of us seem anti-social because of technology; they choose to spend their time with a game or Internet, where it is really opposite with our parents’ live. Foremost, the economy situation now, is getting better. Lots of companies opened, which is made the prize of the stuffs decrease and the prize is friendlier than
