The movie Rounders is about a young law student Mike McDermott, who loses his entire savings to a Russian club owner. Mike then turns away from cards, to devote his attentions to his law studies and his live-in girlfriend Jo , who 's concerned when Mike 's former gambling buddy is released from prison.It does not take long for Mike’s gambling buddy to persuade him to play poker again. When Mike’s girlfriend finds out that Mike has returned to the poker clubs, she moves out, and Mike begins to lose interest in his studies. Worm, Mike’s prison buddy has a pre-prison debt, and the threatening Grama wants the money. Mike does not only take responsibility for Worm, he gets involved in Worm 's debts. Fong’s (2005) study found the following: “Recovering gamblers are encouraged to take themselves off mailing lists from casinos, to meet with a financial planner, to cancel all credit cards, and to turn over control of money to another person. Each behavioral interventions is designed to increase the difficulty of obtaining access to money to gamble”. This method would be well for Mike because Mike always had access to money hidden around the house.
