FFA is known by most people in the world today. Today, there are 579,678 FFA members, ages 12‒21, in 7,570 chapters in all 50 states including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It all started in 1917 The National Vocational Act started providing money to states for educational courses. Then in 1925 Virginia Tech agricultural education teacher educators Henry Groseclose, Harry Sanders and Edmund C. Magill and Virginia state supervisor of agricultural education Walter Newman meet to discuss an organization for boys in agriculture classes. The Future Farmers of Virginia would be the model for the Future Farmers of America. The next year at the American Royal Livestock Show invited The Future Farmers of Virginia to the national livestock meeting in Kanas. They later discus a law that will allow African Americans to join. The next year was big year in 1928 they established the Future Farmers of America. They had found their first national president her name was Leslie Applegate she was from New Jersey. They had their first national convention and 33 delegates from 18 states attended. At the 2nd National FFA Convention in November 1929 33 states are represented by 64 delegates. They were up to 35 state associations with 1,500 chapter and 30,000 this was in 1929! National blue and corn gold are decided to be the official FFA colors, and with these color they adopted their official dress. It consisted of dark blue shirt, blue or white pants, blue cap and yellow tie three years later they adopted thecorduroy jacket. The official FFA Creed was written and adopted. National Convention was moved to Indianapolis Indiana. In 2007 FFA Merchandise Center opens its doors in Indianapolis Indiana. Agriculture has been practiced in what is now Alabama for centuries. Alabama agriculture has changed considerably since the mid-1860s, when cotton was king and Alabama was known as "The Cotton State." One hundred years ago almost four million acres were planted to cotton, and today only 1.3 million acres are devoted to all agricultural crops” (Mitchell, 2007). Agriculture in Alabama is mainly cotton and peanuts in the past they grew cattle corn and cotton. The Native Americans started Alabama off with slash-and-burn agriculture, in which they cut and burned forests to make room for their fields of corn, beans, and squash.

The period between 1880 and 1900 was a boom time for American Politics. The country was finally free of the threat of war, and many of its citizens were living comfortably. However, as these two decades went by, the American farmer found it harder and harder to live comfortably. Crops such as cotton and wheat, once the sustenance of the agriculture industry, were selling at prices so low that it was nearly impossible for farmers to make a profit off them. Furthermore, improvement in transportation allowed foreign competition to materialize, making it harder for American farmers to dispose of surplus crop. Mother Nature was also showing no mercy with grasshoppers, floods, and major droughts that led to a downward spiral of business that devastated many of the nation’s farmers. As a result of the agricultural depression, numerous farms groups, most notably the Populist Party, arose to fight what the farmers saw as the reasons for the decline in agriculture. During the final twenty years of the nineteenth century, many farmers in the United States saw monopolies and trusts, railroads, and money shortages and the loss in value of silver as threats to their way of life, all of which could be recognized as valid complaints.
The 1920’s were the singularly most influential years of farming in our country. The loss of farms following the war, and new agricultural practices resulted in the dawn of modern agriculture in our country. The shift from small family to big corporation during this time is now the basis for how our society deals with food today. Traditional farming in the 1920’s underwent a series of massive transitions following WWI as the number of farms decreased and the size of farms increased.

Football has become a massive part of society, whether it is at home watching the game on television or playing football in school. It is a worldwide culture that keeps people active, entertained, and socially occupied, all while creating multiple jobs.
Farm Bureau is the world’s largest general farm organization, and the voice of agriculture. Most people would think however that Farm Bureau can’t be that big, but Farm Bureau actually has over six million member families across the country and in Puerto Rico. Statistics show that three out of every four people involved in a farm organization actually belong to Farm Bureau. One of the main reasons so many people want to be a part of Farm Bureau is because Farm Bureau is a grassroots organization, meaning the members are the voice.

Games similar to soccer were played in China as early as 400 B.C. In 200 A.D. the Romans played a game in which 2 teams tried to score by advancing the ball across a line on a field, which means no soccer goals. They passed the ball to one another, but not by kicking it. Also in the 1100's, London children played a form of soccer (World Book Encyclopedia, S p.73).
Farmer’s discontent during the period 1870 – 1900 had an impact on their attitudes and actions towards politics. During this period manufacturing had a growth spurt and agricultural started to decline. This made it harder for the farmers to make a decent living. For example in document G it shows how much manufacturing increased between the 50 years. America could no longer dream to be a nation of small freehold farms. Manufacturers and people living in big cities depended on farmers to supply everything. Many people didn’t realize how much of an affect farmers had on their lives. If somebody was to take farms away, everything would have completely crashed.
Farmers everywhere in the United States during the late nineteenth century had valid reasons to complaint against the economy because the farmers were constantly being taken advantage of by the railroad companies and banks. All farmers faced similar problems and for one thing, farmers were starting to become a minority within the American society. In the late nineteenth century, industrialization was in the spotlight creating big businesses and capitals. The success of industrialization put agriculture and farmers on the down low, allowing the corporations to overtake the farmers. Since the government itself; such as the Republican Party was also pro-business during this time, they could have cared less about the farmers.
The National Farm Association was co-founded by Cesar Chavez and Gil Padilla. The main purpose of this association was to seek and enforce Mexican-American labor laws. Such as reasonable work hours and pay an individual receives. To get their message across, many formed marches, boycotts, and strikes. With these forms of expression, people started to hear the voices of those wanting a change in El Movimiento.
The beginnings of the office originate before production of USDA, to 1854 when the Office of Entomologist, Agricultural Section, U.s. Patent Office was made. It was the first of three offices that in the end were united to structure APHIS. In 1881, a Cattle Commission was made in the Department of the Treasury that after three years was exchanged to USDA. Agriculture was the most important economic activity in America from the founding of Virginia in 1607 to about 1890. Although farming declined rapidly in relative economic importance in the twentieth century, U.S. agriculture continued to be the most efficient and productive in the world. Its success rested on abundant fertile soil, a moderate climate, the ease of private land ownership, growing markets for farm produce at home and abroad, and the application of science and technology to farm operations.
In the modern day United States the sport American football has become not only entertainment but also a tradition whether it’s watching the BCS college championship or watching the super bowl with the family. The sport of American football is unique to the United States and has grown and became iconic over the years and has become a part of many Americans lives. American Football was made in 1869 and was modeled after the sport of rugby. They took the basics of rugby and changed it to make it fit better for them. The game has changed over the years but it also affected many Americans as the tradition of Monday Night football has begun. The game has had problems with the United States government as it was said to be too dangerous to play, this lead to an upgrade in the equipment and they tried very hard to make the equipment well ensuring player safety throughout the sport.
