The civil rights movement is an important time in history. The civil rights movement started in the 50s and 60s but some people say it started in the 1800s.The civil rights movement has had many important events during this time like the little rock crisis. During this movement there were a couple organizations that supported and did not support this movement. The civil rights movement has had a big impact on everyone today. The murder of Emmett Till was an important event at the time because it brought uprising to the African Americans because he was murdered by a white man for whistling at a white women in Money MS. The white man who killed him didn't think it was right for a black kid to whistle at a white women. The site says” this was a noted as one of the leading events that motivated the civil rights movement.” This affected everyone because it grew a spark in this movement.The little rock crisis was an important event because a group of nine black kids enlisted into little rock high school in 1957.The governor of Arkansas prevented the kids from actually going to school because he thought it shouldn't be ok for black kids to go to school with white kids. The government stepped in and made sure the kids got into the school.This affected everyone because it showed the first black kids to go to a segregated school. The NAACP paid for bail for African Americans who were part of the freedom riders. Even though the NAACP was threatened and their leaders were killed they still helped to fight for African Americans rights. The KKK killed many black people and tried to stop this movement from succeeding. The website Said “ the civil rights movement resulted in a revival of the KKK organization.” The KKK were involved in the bombing of the baptist church in Alabama and that killed four African American girls.
