Recommended: Importance of role models in shaping lives

Forgiveness, love, relationships and death are the forces that drive the human mind and body to become vessels of life. Absent of these precious gifts and to experience them, would imply that we have lost all sense of humanity. How can a living person walk without a path and endure the journey without emotion, to face the inescapable end of their existence and expect to be remembered? Learning how to embrace those human experiences and incorporate them as a higher purpose in life is the first step toward building an everlasting connection to loved ones and the world. Mitch Albom’s story inspires and awakens the soul which guides every person towards the road to a beautiful life and a meaningful death.

Luckily, there are ways in which we could become part of the solution to the difficult issues single mothers face; by becoming involved and sincerely dedicated to the support and aid to women in the community. When we become sincerely intimate with these issues, the reality of how much change we can bring to a young woman’s life is surreal. A simple gesture of affection, a shoulder to cry on, a few hours of babysitting, or by becoming a role model, can make a tremendous difference. Morrie encouraged us to “Be compassionate. And take responsibility for each other. If we only learned those lessons, this world would be so much better a place” (p.163). In the past, I had the extraordinary privilege of supporting The Single Parent Resource Center, Inc. in NYC, with the help of my company, we donated to fund a support group for single mothers; and provide healthy snacks for parents attending SPRC 's support groups. I could not think of a better way to help other mothers and families affected by similar circumstances. The thought of helping them brought me closer to building solid relationships with my own family and friends; knowing that other mothers would be empowered to defeat those struggles, brought relief and inner peace.
