The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (also known as the Mormon Church) was founded in 1830 by Joseph Smith. It is believed that Joseph Smith was a prophet who saw God the Father and His son Jesus Christ in a vision. He was directed to rebuild the church that Christ had started while on Earth. Since the death of Joseph Smith, many prophets have follow is continuing the work of leading others to God through a relationship with Jesus Christ and also by living their lives through the teaching of the Bible and the Book of Mormons. The Mormon church also has a strong emphasis on family values and history.

The bible is an account of God’s interaction with men over 4,000 years and the Book of Mormon is a continuance of the Bible. Both offer guidance and answers believers are seeking through the study of these books and prayer. It is believed that everything that is needed to be learned to living a life that will lead you to God is contained in these writings.
The LDS church also has a strong belief in the importance of family. Mormons believe that family is where we learn most of what we know, how to live and treat others. They also believe that it is our duty and obligation to care for others in our family when they are in need. It is believed that our family on Earth reflect our Heavenly family.
The Mormons teach that God and His son Jesus Christ created Earth for us to live to experience growth and consequences. In our life before life on Earth, we developed a spirit whereas on Earth we develop a body. We were separated from God and sent to Earth to reach our full potential. We had to be absent from God in order to experience pain and suffering and learn from our mistakes. We then can grow from the hardships and the joys we experience here on Earth. The choices we make during this time will determine the Heavenly life we will
