I believe that staying miserable or motivated is always our choice. A desire to achieve can certainly leads to significant accomplishments and roughest roads lead to the top. Every achievement starts with a dream and if one has goals then one is far ahead of people who have never given a thought about it. At the same time, I believe that one must have the highest standards of morality and integrity while perusing its goals. I started my corporate journey on a challenging note. When started my career as a novice and started working on a time critical project and on a programming language alien to me, I studied the programming language within few weeks and delivered the project within time and with zero defects. My employer appreciated my effort with the Rising Star Award. It was my first corporate award and achievement in itself as I was among the few people who received this award out of 5000 odd, across 60 development centers around the world. It was the time when everybody came to know that I am a motivated self-starter, likes working on productive and fast-paced teams and have desire to build great products. Soon the next opportunity came, in which my managers choose me over my seniors to work with the client’s development team in London and liaise directly with the client. I was still settling in the industry and understanding the different facets of this industry but I took the challenge. Soon the baton was passed to me for all the major responsibilities. It was the time to show my interpersonal skills and work with other teams, in both supervisory or development staff roles. It was a difficult project due to its design and team complexities but we managed to deliver it within time and cost. Acknowledging my determination a... ... middle of paper ... ...ibility to senior managers and the organization and this visibility has interpreted into increased opportunities to be trained or mentored, as well as being recognized by others in the organization. These achievements motivate me to perform better in any environment. These involvements also include more often engagements in senior meetings and have my opinions sought after more frequently. Also, identifying these feats, the organization demonstrated better engagement and commitment by providing a clear career path that identifies the next steps in terms of my development, experience, and movement. I believe that it’s my honest endeavor, persistent effort to do the best possible under all circumstances which have led to these achievements and I still cherish the afterglow of satisfaction that came after the achievement of these difficult tasks that demanded my best.
great influence within the agency as it sets the tone for a positive and supportive work
There are various definitions of success. It can be defined as the as one’s accomplishment of a desired aim or goals. Subsequently, success can also be defined as the attainment of wealth, position or honors. Therefore, success varies from one person to another; it can be a personal aspect as having a pregnancy, academic success, business or political success. However, for one to attain success, whether in an academic, business, political or a private setting, one must put in place strategies that will aid him or her and act as a bridge towards the accomplishment of success. A good strategy must give an overall direction of the intended goals, it is within the sources and opportunities of the desired goal and it advances
On stage, I anticipated third place, but was once again stunned when I placed second. This whole experience was life changing. Working for the National FFA Convention, I developed a work ethic to stick to something, and to do my best, even if it seems impossible. I also gained communication skills, and the ability to work outside my comfort zone. Even now it is hard for me to interact with others, but this accomplishment taught me that I can do hard things and I can communicate effectively. I learned how to perform research and express my findings. This experience was also very valuable for it directed me to my career path. It opened up doors as to my abilities, and gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams without fear. It taught me that failures happen, but enduring effort will turn failure into success. In my interviews, I learned that complete honesty is far better than false cover-ups. I became the person I am now because I was blessed with the experience. This project for some may be seen as a great award, but for me it's an invaluable occurrence which had more life skills and experience than a piece of paper can ever
By reflecting on this and as I continue throughout my career, I concur with LTC Sewell’s article on self-awareness. As I continue to “understand, refine and often redefine” myself and improve articulating who I am to others, my aim is to improve myself, for the current and future organizations that may have the opportunity to be affiliated.
I feel grateful that I reached all the initial goals I had for the term and I feel that I surpassed and gained even more that I was expecting in my professional life.
...res any less difficult to ponder because they reveal that I have a long way to go – indeed further that I would have estimated. They also reveal that Bobby believes in my potential and my chances for success as an effective leader. I know I can do it, but it was very reassuring to hear it from another person who I respect very much. It also confirms the value of my decision to enroll in the Organizational Leadership degree program at CSU. The classes and exercises such as this will certainly be an integral part of my long-term success as an effective leader.
I agree with this result as I believe myself to be a goal-oriented and compertitve person that strives for greatness. I always strive to do well in my job where I try to exceed what’s expected of me and I try to stay focused on the task at hand while I’m at work. Specifically, as a Account Executive, I manage to always go over my daily and monthly goals.
accomplishments towards the goal are being made. The goal continues to change as the company
People concentrate on where they stand compared to other people to determine their happiness. What they do not realize is that they are seeing other people’s highlight moments but they don't see the struggle they went through. People who are successful and happy didn't just wake up one day and achieve their goals. For example, someone who has an expensive sports car went through a great deal of hard work to acquire that car. They overcame a protracted and tedious journey to be where they are. Yet, people are still unhappy with the way their lives are. They do not realize that the work you put into the whole process is what makes you appreciate your goal when you achieve it. These comparisons blind us to the actual process of reaching our goals.
All results did give positive impact on me and I clearly identify a visible path for improvement to become a successful Leader/ Manager. I set my goal to become a Emotionally intelligent, highly motivated, better conflict resolution and communication filled Engineering Manager in an Organization. I pledge to preserve these principles of Organization behavior in my current job and eventually make myself to higher positions in the firm.
Ethics in the Workplace "Ethics are personal and, at the same time, a very public display of your attitudes and beliefs. It is because of ethical beliefs that we humans may act differently in different situations" (University of Phoenix, 2007). Poor ethical choices in the workplace can truly hurt people. Poor ethics can damage their career, happiness, and quality of life. Not only can these actions hurt the individual who has made the bad choices, but also most often it hurts the innocent.
If someone were not motivated to succeed and to surpass the goals you have set, then they have a very high risk of becoming what a lot of people are relating our generation to, and thats just simply somewhat of a burnout. You need to have some sort of motivation to take the next step in your life and to better yourself and your life. There can be dire consequences for someone who has no hunger for success and no motivation to be better than they were yesterday. Those consequences are another thi...
Internal promotions and a higher place in the hierarchical level should push people to strive for recognition.
Ethics in the workplace is a very important thing to have. Without a sense of ethicality in the workplace there are many things that could go wrong. You could even end up losing a job because of a lack of ethics, or other consequences could be felt due to a lack of caring or morality. The workplace is a place that you should show respect and dignity, and a deeper sense of ethics is very important in order to uphold these senses of morality. Workplace ethics, which include such things as behavior, integrity, commitment, teamwork, and other things, are important, if not required, in most workplaces and can help to improve performance and morale for workers and employers.
According to Treviño & Nelson, ethics are “the principles, norms, and standards of conduct governing an individual or organization” (as cited by University of Phoenix, 2012). Ethics are essential in the determination of what is right and wrong in a given situation (University of Phoenix, 2012). When we are born, we do not have any values, morals, or ethical systems in place, as these are learned and developed over time. Today, we are going to take a closer look at my personal ethics and the underlying ethical system that most closely applies to my life. We will also examine the effects that my ethics have on my performance within the organization. Finally, we will discuss why it is important to have ethics that are integrated within an organization.
