In the novel Fahrenheit 451, by ray Bradbury, the author uses imagery and diction as well as the quest that guy Montag most go on in order to find himself and who he truly is not what society makes him think he is. The author uses his ability of imagery in the novel to express a barren mood with the objects and the setting around the characters . One to case of imagery is when Montag returns home from one of his conversations with a strange girl named Clarisse, and believes “H e [is] look[ing] at blank wall,” in his melancholy house (Bradbury 10). The author uses this imagery to explain to explain that even though Montag is in a familiar place, his house, he is begin to question even the things he has known forever. This mood is kept throughout most of the novel and especially around his wife Mildred. Anytime Montag is around Mildred the couple are incredibly distant not know the others, the have known feelings towards each other, like a man walking “into the cold marble room,” of abandoned mausoleum .
